Mercedes-Benz New York Fashion Week: Men's Round Up (Part 3 of 3)

September 14, 2010

Elle Tahari's men's collection look simple with the color choice (very gray) but in closer inspection its more than that, its in the tailoring, zipper details and top stitching.

Marc by Marc Jacobs collection is more mature than it has been but still youthful with a number of suits in the collection. It has a very late 80's feel to the collection relaxed but  I'm absolutely in love with the leather satchels.

G-Star Raw's Pierre Morisset styled close to what the brand is known for, Denim. There are good designs for this collection but there really bogus ones like the oversize pockets on an already oversize coat. The holster bag thing is quite nice.

Michael Kors' collection reminded me of the European shows. It has pieces like the hemp sweaters, linen blazers that I saw back in June, complete with the sandals with socks, no bueno.

General Idea's Bumsuk Choi also reinvented the varsity jacket in this collection. The color choice was actually refreshing as well.  The graffiti print pieces, eventhough not the first time I've seen it, are quite nice.

Jeremy Scott, well I was not even sure if I should have included him here. Even though it is Folsom street fair this weekend, is this relevant, perhaps to Lady Gaga. In a nutshell he took everyday signs and make clothing out of them with leather chaps and such.

Yigal Azrouel has a new look! Not only is he climbing in on the Nerdy cool wagon, He might as well be pulling it. The collection is simple and yet interesting with the few touches of leather here and there.

Gant by Michael Bastian is a pretty good preppy collection. I like that Bastian gave each item an aged finish so that it looked like you had 'em for a while. It had that very small town New England feel to it.

Custo Barcelona collection is a very bright almost glow in the dark colors. I like the use of graphics and multi-textured fabrics. I also like that the collection didnt really follow any of the trends that I have seen repeated a few times.

J. Sabatino got the inspiration from 1981 issue of the face. It reminded me of Duckie from Pretty in Pink really.

Davidelfin, Delfin's spring collection used simple but very bold colors. The collection featured a few interesting cuts and details. Even going as far from missing sleeves and such.

George McCracken poolside presentation is pretty um interesting. The clothing is what he's known for simple minimalist but more refined than his previous collections.
