Things That I Want: Come What May - Givenchy Spring/Summer 2013

Givenchy S/S 2013
What could be even worse than a long distance relationship between San Francisco and New York City? How about spending the next couple months even further away? I mean somebody going abroad.  Atleast right now I can deal with non-stop flights and the fact that I can easily hop on a plane out of a whim without needing my passport.

The bad thing about working somewhere that comes naturally without much effort, I would be on autodrive. Then I get stuck in my head, Thinking. Who got time for that? But I'm notorious sometimes on freaking/stressing myself out for no apparent reason.

Honestly, I should really trust the Bubs because without trust might as well say farewell. It's just it's Rio for crying out loud, have you met any Brazilians that looked bad? I don't even know what they eat over there that all of them look ridiculously good. Anyway.

Trust on the vows that they meant as much as it did the day it's said. Come what may.

For this week's Things That I Want post, I decided to post something that I actually bought already this week. I know I still have roughly a month till my niece's christening but I have to get ready for what I'll wear. There will be pictures for pete's sake. I have a few options lined up but I'm quite excited about this piece really. Of course, it will be coming from the ethereal collection of Givenchy. This one I like because it is mostly white and still preserves the actual image of the Virgin Mary. I know I could get the bau haus print or the splattered painting or even the pastel pink ones but it comes down with how much I'm spending really. Since my heart is not really set to buy any of the latter ones. If I could get away I would love to buy the darker sweaters. But this is a christening after all. I have to keep it light. The sweater retails for $885. I love the Silk detail and the simplicity of the sweater.  But I'm thinking of pairing it with black pants rather than an all white look and of course my Givenchy long shirt with the Silk chiffon bottoms.

Winter Is Coming - Snow: A White Fashion Event - The Outfit

First and foremost, I have to say that I absolutely adore the fall/winter 2013-14 collection of Riccardo Tisci for Givenchy.  Alright now that is out of my system, on with the post.

It will exactly be a week from today that Snow: A white fashion event will take place in SOMA, San Francisco. My second year for getting invited for the event. I'm especially looking forward to see the collection of my favorite Menswear designer from last year, Cana Klebanoff. If you remember, I love his way of playing with shapes in his pieces. I'm also interested to see what the tailored suitings of the Artful Gentleman have in store for us. Of course, Joseph Domingo's creations will surely close the show with a bang. Cari Borja, Charmosa and Julie Schindler rounds up the designer list showing that night.

Since I went for the Gatsby inspired Maison Kitsune collection last year and It would be great to go on a different route this year. Of course, incorporating Riccardo Tisci's vision. It is no secret that Givenchy is definitely one of my favorite high fashion houses of all time. If I have not made that clear, re-read the first sentence of this post alone. The Spring/Summer 2013 collection probably would be one of my favorite collections that Tisci had put out ever since taking the Helm of the menswear division of the design house back in 2008. For some reason I have strange affinity to any religious influenced collections, thanks to attending a private Catholic school almost all my life, especially with Tisci's precision and vision.

So it's no secret that my inspiration and pieces would be from the ethereal and yet dark Givenchy Spring/Summer 2013 collection. I could have taken a specific look in the collection but a few looks gave me some great inspirations. I would have bought the sleeveless organza Madonna top but I don't think it wil be warm enough to wear one on the 26th. I also need to think about wearability. I love statement pieces but I also want to buy expensive pieces that I could wear in a regular basis and not just during fashion week. Practicality wins.

The inspiration looks:

The pieces I'm wearing:
  • Horned cap by KTZ (Kokontozai)
  • Givenchy Madonna print oversized t-shirt
  • Givenchy cotton poplin and silk chiffon long shirt (white variant)
  • Zara stretch white jeans
  • Silk light jacket
  • Reebok studded Dibello (limited edition white variant)

Here's a promotion video of the event by Warren Difranco. I think the video below requires you to actually watch it on Youtube.

Tickets are, again, available **HERE**

Have a great weekend my fashionistos and fashionistas. I'll be back on Monday with my Milan menswear fashion week highlight and followed by my Paris menswear fashion week highlight.

Things That I Want: Baroque Romantique- Dolce & Gabbana F/W 2012 - 13

Dolce & Gabbana F/W 2012-13
I think that when it comes to dating, we want our significant other to make us feel like, we're the only one they see and pretty much the only person that will make them happy. Eventhough that the jaded part of us would say Hell No! That's why we want the biggest rock or the rarest stone on our rings. I chose a black diamond not because of the rare qualities but of course what it looks like. Not because of the popular belief that it reflects ones heart. I guess being in a serious relationship does change a lot of things . . . like taking things . . . more seriously. I know "Gasp!". The other day a friend made a comment saying that she doesn't really know how I do a long distance relationship. I told her, it's not for everybody and two, I told her there will come in our lives that we learn how to prioritize and finally think what are the important things in our lives.

So, as one of the coveted pieces for fall/winter 2012, As envisioned by the wonder duo Dolce & Gabbana. I love how they brought Baroque with a modern twist. Of course, when I saw the show for the first time I was quite skeptical, since the collection was way too rich and quite opulent to be wearable but I'm not saying that the collection was a dud. As the matter of fact I quite enjoyed it. I love opulence and excess. I always believe that life would be so boring without a touch of fantasy.

The brocade and embroidered pieces are just awe inspiring and quite beautiful to say the least. It is romantic. As putting my two cents in for my yearly family portrait. I will be suggesting black and gold. I'm quite excited really. Guess what I'll be wearing? I'm absolutely in-love with this crew neck sweater with the intricate embroidery! The jumper is on sale from $10,300 to $7,210 what a bargain! hashtag smiley face.

Things That I Want: Thankful, Fur Sure - Zara

Well first and foremost,

Happy Thanksgiving to all my fellow Americans!

Another year, a million and one things I am thankful for this year. One the amazing new job. Thanks to the great opportunity to work with such great individuals. Two, the people I met in the fashion industry. I've learned a lot from these people. Three my amazing friends and family for being there for me. Four my fashionistos and fashionistas around the world, thank you for your patronage. And last but not the least, New York/ES you've been my rock and my inspiration. I Love You and thank you for the fond memories and I can't wait to make more. I guess the second time is the charm.

Alright, remember to breath in between spoonful of food and drink plenty of liquor water.

In today's Things That I Want post. I'm feeling a little frisky. I don't know is it because I saw the Broadway production of The Lion King on my recent trip to NYC or I basically just love the way it looks. Well, like most coat and heavy knit wear that I own there's a chance that I will be wearing this probably once a year or as of late, when I'm in NYC. Since I'm back with New York/ES I will be over there more than twice a year, not counting my trips for Mercedes Benz NYFW. Way to go rack up those miles. Yay me. This piece, which is pretty much a sold piece for me, is from Zara. It's a fur lined heavy knit cardigan. I personally don't like knits and I prefer to wear jackets but I've been eyeing this piece for a hot minute . . . well actually just over the weekend when I stopped by their flagship store while I was in New York. The cardigan retails fo $159.

Things That I Want: Accessory To Greatness - Dior Homme

Dior Homme f/w 2012
Like a true transplant to San Francisco, I'm complaining agitated not used to the warm weather which was in the low 80's. Honestly, it wasn't really that bad but I would rather be at the beach or at Dolores park getting a tan. It doesn't help either that I'm surrounded by coats and fall/winter pieces ALL day for the past couple of days. Not to mention I'm still on my spring/summer looks mode/clothing rotation.

The reason I love street style blogs like Monsieur Jerome he features the entire look, paying close attention to accessories. As an Accessory Buyer I like that but as a believer that accessories sets us apart from each other, I love it. Two men can wear the same suit/outfit but wearing the right accessories would give the other man that je ne sais quoi that makes his look better than the other. As Rachel Zoe would say, "An outfit is nothing without accessories."

Dior Homme f/w 2012
bird print/camo
So for today's Things That I Want post, we have two pieces, one that I already own thanks to New York/ES, from Dior Homme.

Let us start from the piece that I already own. It's the Dior Homme long metal bird pendant necklace. If you would ask my friends they would tell you how I love a good statement necklace. I own a number of simple yet great necklaces from Dior Homme through out the years. So it is no surprise that I wanted the "it" print/camo for Dior Homme's Fall/Winter 2012 collection in necklace form. So, again, thanks E, for being so thoughtful, you and getting me this. The necklace comes in all metal or lacquered finish. The necklace retails for $290.
Swizz Beatz wearing the
Blacktie 143s

The second piece I wanted is not necessarily from the latest collection but rather from the blacktie accessory collection that was released a few months back. I have been shopping around for a replacement for my vintage Armani sunglasses and although I'm in love with tortoiseshell DSquared pair I need a simple black one. Enter the Crystal Blacktie 143s sunglasses. I love the double metal bridge detail and the sleekeness of this pair. This particular pair comes in all black, crystal and tortoiseshell. I just love the crystal. The pair retails for $395.

Like necklaces and shoes. One can never have too many pairs of sunglasses.

Alright my fashionistos and fashionistas, Have a great weekend.

Things That I Want: Stars And Lunch Bags - Givenchy & Jil Sander

This week was no different from last week, it has been busy and hectic. Work and social responsibilities alike. So it was no surprise for me that I'm sooo glad today's Friday. It will be a busy weekend for me, but at least I could sleep in for a couple of days.

Givenchy & Jil Sander FW 2012
Yesterday, I received a package from New York/ES a Dior Homme necklace. I thought to myself, I know this was not one of the reasons that I'm with this person but it definitely was a perk to get gifts just because . . . or was it. dun dun dun.

Tonight I would be attending a sing-a-long showing of The Little Mermaid with a group of my friends. I know a little weird but for some reason I'm excited. There was also a chance that we would also be attending a Masquerade party as well. I kept forgetting that Halloween's just around the corner and I don't have ANY idea what I would be for the parties I got invited to.

It has been a while since I posted a Things That I Want post so might as well start this week. Two of the things that I really wanted this fall were the Givenchy star earrings and the Jil Sander leather lunch bag. It has been no secret that I'm obsessed with Riccardo Tisci as much as Kris Van Assche. I don't know I just love how he managed to marry high fashion with street wear, effortlessly.

Sure I'm still not fully sold with the whole stars and stripes pieces of the Fall/Winter 2012 collection but  I thought since there was no way that I would be able to purchase the horn earrings, I would settle with the nice star earrings. The septum jewelry were great statement pieces because they just totally reminded me of the Silence of the Lambs cover but it looked like it would be annoying to wear. Besides I love the attention that statement pieces gives me but not that much attention. The earrings retail for $520 each.

The second piece that I've been coveting this couple of months was the Jil Sander leather "paper bag/lunch bag" handbag. I've seen these before manufactured from a small leather company in Spain if I'm not mistaken but it was made of a different leather. Jil Sander had two types of these bags the waxed paper that looked like that would crinkle through time/use and the one that I wanted that was made of calf leather. I thought this was the perfect size to bring with me if I'm not in the mood to bring a big man bag. Besides the only constant things that I put in any of my bags were my wallet, iPhone, lip protectant, and keys. I don't need an Hermes birkin for those. I could but I don't have to. Besides that I love the quirky idea that it looked like a lunch bag. I mean this is definitely a buy already for me rather than a want. The bag retails for $630.

Things That I Want: Coming To America - Woolrich Woolen Mills

We've all been there, Awkward first dates. As much as I like meeting new people dates are just one of those things that I hate. I don't do dates I hang out, meet for drinks or something light. Dinners are so old fashioned and trapping. It's so hard to bail out of a dinner . . . if it happens that it doesn't work out. I think it should be reserved to the second or later dates. A friend once told me go see a movie at least you wouldn't have to talk to them but that negates the idea of the whole "do they have a personality" test.  But hey that's just me. Which my sister simply put as having relationshiphobia. To which I say, when the right person comes all walls will come down.

Unfortunately, that person is not here yet so the walls will stay up.

For this week's Things That I Want post we have one of the most used prints in collections this Spring/Summer, the African/tribal inspired print. The minimalist in me always hated busy prints, I think it's this aversion that I find Hawaiian shirts tragic. There are only few of these tribal prints featured in collections that I liked. One from Burberry Prorsum and the other by Woolrich Woolen Mills. Both are so similar but the other is way more cheaper. A nice shirt to add to my wardrobe collection. The Woolrich Woolen Mills shirt is on sale for $97.50 (orig. $195) at Mr. Porter.

Things That I Want: Red Hot - Zara

On my way home last night after grabbing dinner with two friends, this girl on the radio cancelled a date because the guy was taking her out on a Wednesday night . . . it was the first date. I started to think, almost all my first dates happened on a weekday. One most likely dinner would be on the menu and the easiest way to make reservations would be a weeknight. I personally don't think any of it but I supposed some people read connotations from something so mundane as the day picked. Apparently the weekend means something more. Oh please. Then again weekend dates were way more fun to my experience. I guess there might be truth behind her crazy after all.

This post would be one of my Things That I Want that I already own. Since I consider Zara completely accessible, I'm merely sharing what I bought and keeping the red theme that I had going for this week. Like I said before I wish I could afford to throw use my money on high fashion brand names but that wont be realistic. The first item that I got was the reversible bermudas. I mean come on, everybody loves a twofer. I also love the two sides were completely different fabrics. The bermudas retail for $59.90 and the second piece from Zara was the combined fringed sneaker. I've wanted wingtip/sneaker hybrid for a time now and one that I wont feel bad if I scruffed it like the Prada sneaker/brogue. The shoes retail for $89.90
