Over the weekend, while I was out and about with the numerous events in San Francisco. During brunch with my friend that day, I had told him that the worst thing that could happen was to bump to this person I just dumped. Sure enough, I did . . . with a new date/person. Of course, the good person that I am, I tried to hide behind my sunglasses and my cap. Too bad they spotted my friend thus spotting me. We chatted like nothing happened. I did not have the heart to embarrass someone in front of a date, just not my style.  I had said it before but this town can be so small. 

But then again that wasn't the worst good thing that happened on Sunday. But let's not go there, I already spent too much time at the dog house this couple of days.

But hey, Happy Hump Day my fashionistos and fashionistas! 

In today's editorial post featured one of my favorite designers of all time, Kris Van Assche for Dior Homme. Leon Mark photographed Anders Hayward for the Japanese magazine, Commons And Sense's Pride editorial story. The Military inspired collection was styled by Ruben Moreira.

Runway Monday: Point Of No Return - Lanvin Spring/Summer 2013 Review

I'm pretty sure that everybody had been in a moment where everything seemed to just pointed you to a direction and you just follow that certain feeling, blindly. A point of no return of sorts. I know it seemed a little selfish but Carpe diem, mes amis! You can always regret it later. Alright, maybe this was not for everybody but it was for me. Besides it was the weekend! Everybody was just having fun.

The thing was, that nagging feeling came to me or more like one of my bestfriend saying this morning, "it was all fun and games till somebody got hurt." Sigh, we are young and we all only live once.

In today's runway review, we have the Lanvin collection. As we saw from other shows for next year's Spring/Summer seasons, we had been presented for a more modern/futuristic themes. It didn't mean shiny and metallics (eventhough the collection went there) but more of the feel; cold and precise. clean lines and leather paraded the runway as Alber Elbaz envisioned the Lanvin man on an excursion to tomorrow. The color story for the most part was very monochramatic with a very limited pop of colors on a handful of pieces. The collection maybe somewhat dark but with the help of the flowy high-waisted pants created texture and movement that we come to expect from the warmer seasons' clothing. A good number of mesh pieces gave the collection a feeling of lightness to it, as well. I love that the pants were paired with skinny belts and the outerwear a bit oversized. My least favorite pieces were the one one that were more dandier than the rest. Especially the flowery pieces which I thought was a bit too much.

Overall I loved the collection, A great transition from what was the usual dandy Lanvin man. I almost didn't recognize him!

Think Of Me - Janis Ancens by Adriano Russo

Letting a person down who had opened themselves to you will always be hard. It doesn't mean it would be forever nor did I regret the times we shared but I would rather break someone's heart than to lie to them. I just had to trust my heart and be with New York/ES. As hard as it was. Second time, I hope, would be a charm. It just sucked to see that gross disappointment on their face. I feel that every time you break somebody's heart you break a piece of yours. 

. . . then we move on.

Well have good weekend, my fashionistos and fashionistas. San Francisco will be buzzing with events , and the biggest of them all would be fleet week, I know a good number of people coming to the city to watch The Blue Angels.

In today's editorial we have Janis Ancens as he appeared on the editorial for GQ Italia's October issue. Adriano Russo photographed Ancens with the help of Peter Cardona's styling for this military inspired project. Some of the designers featured on this editorial were pieces from Burberry Prorsum and Dior Homme. 

Of course, this will be one of my weaknesses, military inspired pieces. I just loved it.

Runway Report: San Francisco Fashion Week - Avant Garde/Couture

Oh finally, it has dramatically cooled down yesterday. It was still a great day without the constant fanning of my shirt or what not. I would like to say that I was not one of those who complained about the heat but I was. One thing though, I had a great night's sleep thanks to centralized air conditioning at my house. I'm glad that I'm finally getting some form of semblance of my old routine. All after the craziness of fashion weeks, new job, and old-new relationship.

Since this was my last post for the final night of my San Francisco fashion week coverage. I thought I did pretty good of not comparing New York and San Francisco which I have done in the past. Yay me. Keept an open mind and no expectations with the shows also helped me enjoy the shows.

It's about time! Only took four seasons at NYFW.

Here was the final night of SFFW with the Avant Garde/Couture collections.

La Bete by Jeniffer Ly

Flowy hooded tunics and see thru pants, gave an illusion of arabian nights. It was both romantic and gritty. I thought it was fitting that the soundtrack was Bad Girls by M.I.A.
 

Artful Gentleman

Great suits with great modern fit and cuts. I love that all of the suits were youthful for the younger professionals. These were not your dad's suits for sure, or mine. The styling was great but since I'm not a big pocket squares kind of guy I thought the messy squares were well messy and almost clownish. Other than that, the styling was great. I love the little pop of colors.

Keneuoe 

Beautiful dresses that evoked a rather russian to me. Some of the dresses/coats were too sophisticated/mumsy to be worn by a younger woman but the collection was rather great. I especially adored the two tier gold dress. I thought it was sharp.

Van Der Neer: The 11th Dimension

When I was starting to wonder if there was actually an avant garde collection that night, Van Der Neer  happened. It was definitely interesting. Alien and almost fighter woman. There were actually pieces that were wearable and some for "artistic" value. Didn't really like the crotch straps. Yikes.

Scott Ian McFarland

Knits, knits and more knits. I was coughing from lint after the show. Just kidding. There were some great bulky sweaters and cardigans that were quite "Monet" (look up it looks like a monet) sweaters interlaced with . . . well lace and There was the grey sweater with the silk and the way the silk were poking out gave the sweater unintentional(?) spikes that I love. The styling was very clockwork orange on more acid if that's possible.

Camelia Skikos

My favorite from last year's SF fashion week comes back with another great collection. I'm in love with the very minimalist and structural aesthetic of her collection. It was modern and very wearable. I love the pieces with the leather shoulder details and the blue/green/red pieces.

Definitely saved the best for last.

Runway Report: San Francisco Fashion Week - Ready To Wear

Okay, it was official a few days ago, people of San Francisco, Indian Summer came right on schedule. Another hot day today, not like I was complaining or anything (I was) since it was actually raining in New York . . . yep New York/ES wont shut up about it. Sure, it was kind of weird that I'm still dressed with my summer clothes but nothing new there. San Franciscans do not get seasons at all.

Yesterday, while enjoying a few nice cold beer with friends at this bar in the Mission with a great patio, my friend asked me if New York/ES was coming to visit or vice versa. To be honest, I haven't really thought that far yet. Well, ultimately the answer would be yes. We just haven't talked about the details yet. Knowing myself and New York/ES we would wait the last second to book our flights.

Today we have the shows from the last Saturday. Ready to wear collections.

Alyssa Nicole

Opened the night with dresses that were flirty and adorned with lace that I liked. Especially with the one that looked like a boyfriend shirt dress. I didn't really respond well with the peplum dresses since they sorta just hanged there. Same with the pussy bow shirts. The collection wasn't bad it was just some  of the pieces lacked movement. So it was quite nice when the flowy dress came out.

GreenBlackDress by Anna Lindel

A simple collection that featured a lot of knee length dresses that were too conservative for my taste. I thought that with better styling it would have made a different impact. Since my favorite dresses were the one that looked like amish dresses. I liked the pop of colors here and there.

Inlush by Biviana Lazo

To say that it was a vibrant collection would be an understatement. Interesting prints on the satin dresses. The dresses were cute but not everybody can wear those. My favorite was the close neck long sleeved purple dress with the black tiger? print.

Mere by Leslie Foley

Quite a utilitarian collection, it was. I loved the color story of cement grays, whites and black. It was simple and chic. The back cut outs were kind of cute. I thought it was very San Franciscan.
 

Rstate San Francscio

The urban dapper that consisted of rugged outerwear paired with jeans and killer boots.  The styling was on point and love the little whimsy touch of the bowties. I really liked that red checkered jacket! I love that it featured short coats that would be perfect for those cold mornings in San Francisco.

Ray Oliver

This was an interesting collection. The plush jersey fleece pieces with the knots on the front reminded me of a snuggy. As a collection I was a little confused since they were just pieces I thought. I didn't go to fashion school but the whole collection reminded me of a project. The blue dress with the tulle could have been great but it felt unfinished. There was also that grey tube dress that the model could barely walked in. I mean why?! It made me sad inside. The high point of this collection was not a piece but the "Vogueing"of a model down the runway.

This Town - Jordan & Zac Stenmark by Nacho Alegre

Sunday marked the end of my fashion show cycle. I know it came and went. San Francisco fashion week was great and my mini review for the collections from the ready to wear and avante garde/couture shows will go live in the next couple of days. I thought the shows' production were a lot tighter this year and included some stand out pieces and collections.

Last night, while reading an article from New York times about front row etiquette. The article amused nay cracked me up that if it was a check list, all of them would be checked for how many "offenders" were there over the weekend. Then again I guess that's how you would spot the newbies from the seasoned as pointed out by the article. No disrespect intended.

The weather on the other hand has been great, even reached the 90's yesterday. Nights like yesterday I wished that New York/ES was here so we can go up Twin Peaks and just sort of hang out there and check out the city's skyline at night. I know very sentimental, right? It makes me sick.

Today we have an editorial that appeared on the newest issue of Hercules magazine.Twins,  Jordan and Zac Stenmark were lensed by Nacho Alegre with the styling of David Vivirido. The were styled with Fall/Winter essentials by Kenzo, Givenchy, Balmain, and Ami to name a handful.

Runway Report: San Francisco Fashion Week - Emerging Designers

One runway night down, two more to go. Anna Dello Russo had said in the past that you should only wear an outfit ones. So, there lies the dilemma. Eventhough I do have a walk-in closet the size of a tiny room in Manhattan. I still re-wear some of the pieces I own . . . maybe not at the same sequence of outfit but I mix and match them. Shhh . . . that's a secret of a great closet, great pieces that you can mix and match. Not to mention, New York fashion week was just a couple of weeks ago. I have used all my outfits there. Last night, I wore my military inspired ala Dior Homme. A look that I love.

Last night's show featured some of San Francisco/Bay Area's up and coming designers. So there will be dresses and gowns in these up coming posts. I know.

Great dresses with nice trims on the bottom. A little madmen-esque but cute.

This collection featured some of the best prints I have seen on dresses. Flowy and flirty summed up the collection.

Shenova by Holly Renee

Yes, I'm going to say it. By far my favorite collection of the night. I love that collection evokes an almost Christopher Kane aesthetic. The prints were phenomenal especially the planets and galaxy ones. If there was one thing I didn't like, it was the feathers. I didn't quite get it. I really wish she comes up with shirts for men with these prints.

DRAMA! Alright, I didn't really love every piece in this collection because it bothers me to see unfinished hems. But there were pieces that were truly exquisite. the box dress was very unexpected but really cute.

 Below The Surface

The only menswear that showed tonight, Great varsity jackets and hoodies with unique camo and animal prints. The collection was nothing out of the ordinary but I do love the soundtrack that they used.

Rodrigo Trujillo

Plastic see-through material and basket weaving. The collection was borderline risque with a tinge . . . okay more than a tinge of dominatrix. I love the shredded orange/black dress that when the model moves showed what was underneath, a pop of yellow.
