Under The Sea - Bart Grzybowski by JD Forte

In this editorial entitiled Frutti di Mare that appeared on TheOnes2Watch, an online fashion magazine. Photographer JD Forte and stylist Polar Buranasatit took Ford Models talent Bart Grzybowki on a very colorful under the sea adventure with pieces from fast fashion giants, H&M and Topman to mid-price pieces from Gant Rugger, and a vintage Jean Paul Gaultier. I think I love the collage effect of this editorial and the crazy layering and explosion of colors. Bravo!

I had a fun weekend and hope you did too, Deferred to go to a show so I can be social with friends on friday and went to a cousins' hangout at Fenton's Creamery in Oakland (as seen on the movie, Up!).  Well alright Monday is here and the opening party for San Francisco Fashion Week is tonight. It will be fun, and my outfit is almost complete. Happy Monday everybody!

Back To Color - Eugen Bauder by Alix Malka

Yesterday, I spent a very excruciating four hours at DMV to renew my driver's license. On a good note my shoes arrived and my outfit for my friend's wedding is finally complete, unless I tweak it again as to what happened for the last two months now. Le sigh.

I am loving the new Guess by Marciano's fall 2011 campaign. One because its back in color but the pieces look really good. The campaign was shot by Alix Malka and features Eugen Bauder and Heide Lindgren. This weekend is the calm before the storm since starting on Monday, chaos that is fashion week will commence ones more. Have a good weekend my fashionistos and fashionistas!

Six Rows of Separation - What It Takes To Get In To The Shows at New York Fashion Week

This is one question that I have been asked a few times, "how do you get invited to the shows?" Well you bat your eyes a few times and wala! you're in. Easier said than done, really. Unless you're an editor for a big magazine like Elle, GQ and the likes OR a buyer for a high end store, well good luck with that. For the rest of us bloggers well with persistence, hard work and knowing a few important people will make it happen. The press pass/card from IMG, who handles the shows held during fashion week, cost $80 for the early registration and $120 for late registration. Hold your horses right there, that only gets you in to the lobby and not the actual shows. When approved by IMG, after sending your credentials and necessary information they in turn will send you the PR list of each designers showing for that week and contact them personally but that doesn't guarantee you for an invite, either. Nothing is guaranteed until you receive an invite from the designer's PR people. I know, a ton of work. Who said that making it in the fashion world is easy?

So what's the second option? Well, if you happen to have $1500 lying around somewhere, you can use it to buy tier 2 show packages for limited reserved seats on every show held on Lincoln center through AmEx . . . if they're still doing that, the proceeds will benefit the Vogue Fashion Fund.

Any other option? Pull a Salahi and sneak in, I wont really suggest this one but Lincoln Center is just so chaotic that people actually get in without a press pass or lie about it. Unfortunately, security has been tighter ever since the move to Lincoln Center.

Anything else? well try to go to a smaller show by an unknown designer sometimes you'll be surprised. This has happened before, another editor/press person can't make it to a show and give away their sits, with proper heads up to the designer's PR people.

Or stay at home since most of the major shows are streamed online nowadays.

So hypothetically speaking, let's say you get in so who's what and the rest.

First/Front row, umm any fashion student can enumerate each and every person sitting on those nicely lined chairs. These are the who and what is fashion to the known world. Major Editors, Major Buyers , Major bloggers and Major celebrities. Anybody with a Major . . . impact on the fashion world.

Second and third rows and so forth are filled with not-so-important VIPs, buyers, bloggers (ME!) and press and assistant editors. with a dash of relatives of somebody from the backstage and PR people's people.

And the standing room? I don't know and I'm not being obnoxious or anything but aside from late attendees I'm not really sure who or what they do.

Some say that it's better to avoid the chaos that is Fashion week but to me it's exciting, hard work yes but very exhilarating. Some people jump off planes, bungee jump off a bridge, sure I can do that but going to New York fashion week gives me that rush too.

Be A Doll, Why Don't You - Vincent Schoepfer Fall/Winter 2011-12

First and foremost, I would like to thank and congratulate Mika Uehara, the Founder and CEO of the fashion app Lookaroo (if you own an iPhone, Get it!), for taking a picture of me and my ensemble during Pret-a-porter San Francisco and her app getting featured on San Francisco Chronicle (click here to read the write up).
One of my favorite, under exposed Parisian designer Vincent Shoepfer's lookbook for the f/w 2011-12 is just a doll! Always taking his cues to dandy but yet casual. I love the cheery colors. The bowtied look that are mixed with cords and interesting stitching is just so d@mn cool, not to mention the rounded bowtie will be my next purchase and be worn for NYFW.

Under Pressure - Paolo Anchisi & Linus Gustin by Jason Kim

I know it's only Tuesday but personally, I feel like it's been a long week, already. Been busy planning everything for my upcoming trips and other networking opportunities and getting overshadowed by the upcoming trip with my family. I mean don't get me wrong I love my family but it's been a while since I've been on a trip with them. I know overall it's gonna be okay but I'm still a little nervous. I don't know why, just am. I guess just part of growing up. ANYWAY, If you've been following my blog for a while you will know that I'm in love with the Thome Browne Spring/Summer 2011 collection. Here goes another editorial featuring some of his pieces. It features Ford models Paolo Anchisi and Linus Gustin for MYKROMAG. Photographed by Jason Kim and styled by Sunny Groo and having one of my favorite city as a backdrop, New York City.

Nerd - Bernardo Velasco by Joao P. Teles

The new face of Summer Shop, a Brazilian swimwear company, Bernardo Velasco plays a quirky, dorky, sexy (?) boy for photographer Joao P. Teles. The duo improvised a studio in their hotel room and shot the following mini-editorial-esque shoot while on break shooting the campaign and lookbook for the swimwear company.
Monday is here once again and I can't believe it's August already! At the same time I'm defo excited, since next month is New York Fashion Week and I'm going! I included a link to Summer Shop at the end of the post and you can check more of Bernardo in swimwear, If you want, And I know that you know you want to. Speaking of checking out something, I almost missed my flight because I misread the time of my flight. Next time, triple check.
