Trend Thursdays: "Foulard-y" (Foolhardy) Accessory

I had this talk with my bestfriend about this piece that I call Summer scarves. He doesn't think its necessary which I disagree. My bestie is a firm believer that every article of clothing one wears should have a purpose. Well in that case, half of the sh*t I wear, I shouldn't be wearing, (whoops! there goes my high fashion house necklace collection!) Regardless, I think one trend that I like is a light fabric stole or scarf. I'm not telling you to wear the ones that you wear during winter but choose I lighter fabric, satin or perhaps linen and probably it wouldn't be wise to borrow your grandma's silk scarf either no matter what brand it is. Pick out stole that has a good balance of masculine and feminine qualities. Even though that the fabric is feminine pick more masculine colors to balance out the dandy effect of the accessory but hey a little dandy once in a while can't hurt nobody. You can wear the scarf out at night over your plain white Ts or an accent to a linen jacket, in jeans, bermuda shorts or even chinos.

Code Red - Sam Way by Joe Lally

Sam Way appeared on Style: Men magazine's editorial story entitled, Red Alert. I actually love this editorial, According to a study I read back in undergrad, that red is the first color that we see when we were babies. It works for me because the editorial sure did capture my attention, it also helps that Sam was styled with pieces by Simon Spurr, Dolce & Gabbanna, Marc Jacobs,  Louis Vuitton and Calvin Klein. The editorial was lensed by Joe Lally and styled by Joseph Episcopo. Happy Hump Day, two more days before my vaca begins.

Mammoth Suitings - Clement Chabernaud for H&M Fall/Winter 2011

Mammoth of a clothing company, H&M, released their fall/winter lookbook and enlisted top model  Clement Chabernaud. The looks are spot on considering the trend forecast for the fall and winter seasons. There are a few of the suit pieces that looks nice and wouldn't mind to own. But again this is H&M, THEY always looks nicer in pictures. This was supposed to go live yesterday *thanks blogger!*

Runway Monday: Put A Hood On It! - Simon Spurr Fall/Winter 2011-12

There are a number of shows that I adore from the last New York men's show circuit and one of them is the Simon Spurr show. In previous shows, Spurr has showed that he can make a great fitting, handsome suits but for this collection, not only he showed that, he also showed that he can be edgy. I love the collection was classically great but with a little dash of edge to make the look more current. I'm not just talking about the accessories matched with the suits but I'm talking about the fabric used and color as well. A little shine either from leather or . . . a shiny fabric. Speaking of leather, The leather jackets were a nice touch of ruggedness to the city sleeker that Spurr has been known for. I also love the bulky scarf, Everybody at work knows me with my scarf and sunglasses and an inside joke of "don't talk to me" look that I have when I have them on. But there are a few trends that I'm sworn not to follow (i.e. Gladiator sandals) especially those very mumsie knitted gloves. Ugh-ness. On the other hand, I love, love the cashmere hoods. I firmly believe that everybody should get hooded this fall. I've been under the weather for a few days now but at least vacation is on the horizon. Happy Monday, my fashionistos and fashionistas.

Houston We Have A Problem - Andres Velencoso Segura by Milan Vukmirovic

It is so weird that I couldn't really get on blogger for a day. This is also after a day of not being able to post anything due to social responsibilities or what not. Anyway, Today is Saturday and aren't I glad it's the weekend. I will be checking out the San Francisco OysterFest later on today for some great music, and of course to eat some oysters! I will see you all on Monday. And on to the post of the day . . .

Andres Velencoso Segura appeared on L'Officiel Hommes China's Spring/Summer 2011 issue.  Andres was photographed and styled by Milan Vukmirovic in suits from D&G, Tom Ford, and Gucci. Black V is next week and I have yet to decide on a look but this editorial gave me some ideas. 

Stars, Stripes, & Vodka - Asterisk Magazine First Year Anniversary Extravaganza

I know this is little late but better late than never. A week ago, Asterisk Magazine celebrated their first year anniversary. For those not on the know, it's a local San Francisco magazine that talks about anything and everything in San Francisco; food, fashion, sights, I mean, EVERYTHING. It was held in the mission's Public Works and sponsored by Blue Angel vodka among others.
As of most local events I planned to show my face, leave and probably catch the late news since it was on a work night. But surprisingly I had a lot of fun. The artwork by Erik Otto was refreshing. Modern art seems to be the main focal point of the occasion from the "inside joke" of the stocked boxes to the projected animation of previous issues of the magazine. Blue Angel also provided some vodka inspired libations and Pan-Latin dishes provided by Charanga (also located in the Mission). It was quite nice to bump into old friends and also meet new ones alike.
In a fashion sense, I told my best friend that I've learned my lesson when it comes to events in San Francisco. I tend to be overdressed. So for this event I opted to wear my Goorin bros. hat, My Louis Vuitton necklace to accentuate my striped Marc Jacobs sweater completed by my Kenneth Cole automatic watch that seems to get more complements than it really deserves.  In terms of the men who attended the event, let me tell you this, I don't think I've seen so much plaid shirts in one occasion. I was starting to feel like for some reason I didn't get the memo. Oh well it is San Francisco after all.
The live performance by Nick Waterhouse was some kind of amazing. It was very entertaining! And eventhough I didn't win my ipad 2 in the raffle (I supposed that I have to get it the normal way, buying it) I had fun, surprisingly.
