Runway Monday: Tough Cookie - Dsquared2 Spring/Summer 2013 Review

What an interesting weekend. On Friday, I went to the deYoung museum again to accompany one of my good friends to the Jean Paul Gaultier exhibit. He said he needs an "inside eye" to explain him things. But since the beach was fogged out, we ended up at Dolores park where it was Sunny and hot for a little picnic and got some of my tanning time in.

Probably one of the annoying hardest thing when you're dating somebody new would be competing with their ex? How can somebody compete with history or how can you be so sure that they're over them? Take their word and give them the benefit of doubt. That's all I can do really.

On a different note, it was great that the Olympics closing ceremony included a segment to salute British fashion. Including gold designs from four of my favorite British designers, Vivienne Westwood, Christopher Bailey for Burberry, Paul Smith and the late, great Alexander McQueen. Eventhough casting Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell created a backlash on Twitter today, whatevs.

Another Monday but at least it will be a short work week. Hectic but short.

In this week's runway review, I present to you Canten twins' Dsquared2 spring/summer 2013 collection. I've always liked their collections, a few stand out pieces but most of the time, I tend to cringe because they tend to be more flamboyant more than not, especially their Spring/Summer collections. So it was quite a surprise that they presented a really dark and tough collection.

Their spring/summer 2013 offerings consisted of great slim fitted, crisp white button down shirts paired with matching black pants and shorts. What I love from this collection was, of course, were the accessories. I love almost everything from the necklaces, bracelets, studded belts, metal shinned boots and the hats. Of course the white shirts were from far from plain adorned with denim, leather, lace, sequins and leopard print and the occasional pop of color accents. Overall, I love how edgy was sexy, without being too obscene or showing off skin.

I Can Get Used To This - Sean O'Pry by Michael Schwartz

Another week is ending and the closer we get to NYFW! I'm probably having the most chill nights in a long time . . . not including Hump Day shenanigans that is, we're not going there. Nothing too crazy just sitting in bed with somebody, watching a movie and enjoying each other's company. What else can I ask for? Well, alright I can probably can come up with a list but so far  I'm very content. No pretentions and no expectations, the way that it should be really. See, I'm definitely a Carrie and not a Samantha that most of my friends believe. ha ha.

In today's editorial, we have super model Sean O'Pry for Dansk magazine's fall/winter issue. The cover story is lensed by Michael Schwartz and styled by Morgan Hamada Ruiz with great pieces from Tisci's star spangled collection for Givenchy.

See, I'm still not totally in love with this collection but hey, it's growing on me. I love how they styled O'Pry with the collection, especially the mini corn rows. J'adore!

Anxious - Rick Genest by Nick Lafontaine

It's exactly a month from now that I will be flying to New York for Fashion week! I'm excited! I'm just a little anxious about New York and who I know I will be seeing there. I know minor detail but I guess it has only been roughly two months since we broke up, after all.

There are also a few trade shows that I will be attending on behalf of the company I'm working with. At least it wont be that crazy of a schedule compared to last season's.

Speaking of anxiety, I'm not the only one who seemed to be anxious about my nonchalant nature of things. The person of I'm sorta-kinda seeing seemed to be getting a little anxious that I have not really made any effort to move forward or back off. Well, I'm taking things really slow. No need to rush, I'm not in a hurry.

This is probably a rhetorical question but if someone i.e. myself stopped calling/texting/emailing/social media-ing you doesn't that mean MAYBE I'm not just that into you? I thought that it is simple enough. But I think that it is just weird that some people just don't get social cues.

Oh well, Happy Hump Day!

In today's editorial we have zombie boy, Rich Genest as he appears on the latest issue of AM magazine. The editorial story is shot by Nick Lafontaine and styled by Cristina Acevedo. Genest is outfitted with pieces by Tiger of Sweden, Dsquared2, and Philippe Dubuc. You know you love those Kerin Rose sunglasses too!

Russian Roulette - Chris Wetmore, Kacey Carrig, Jesse Shannon, Jonathan Marquez, Justin Barnhill, Miles McMillan, & Scott Barnhill by Josh Olins

I finally changed my job title and/or work space at my Buyer job. I'm officially in accessories! Fun times. There were a lot of changes happened last week within the company and the new online store was launched last week as well. So I'm excited to see how everything pans out.

On other news, I found out that this person I'm sorta seeing had a common ex-whatever with one of my really good friends, such a small world. But I'm not really that surprised. It was bound to happen, really. Then again, rarely anything fazed me anymore.

In today's post, we have another great editorial that appeared on VMAN's latest issue lensed by the talented, Josh Olins.  Chris Wetmore, Kacey Carrig, Jesse Shannon, Jonathan Marquez, Justin Barnhill, Miles McMillan, and Scott Barnhill donned pieces from the fall/winter 2012/13 from Kris Van Assche, Givenchy, Versace, and John Varvatos to name a few. The boys were styled by Clare Richardson juxtaposing the high fashion looks with the laid back lifestyle of surfers.

Perfect - Noah Mills by Jack Waterlot

Sometimes the day could never be too perfect, "My Friday" at work was easy. I got to enjoy lunch at the park with a really good friend of mine and talk. I went to see some of my best friends play volleyball eventhough I wanted to jump in with them to play. AND most importantly, this person I'm sorta seeing came and watch the game with me. I know an "aww" moment indeed.

Today I just need to send a few emails, go to the gym and some chores. Not bad to spend my "Saturday" either.

Have a great Friday my fashionistos and fashionistas.

In today's editorial, we have top model, Noah Mills as photographed by Jack Waterlot for latest issue of  Apollo Novo. Fleur Huynh styled Mills in one of my coveted pieces from the Givenchy. I just adore that sequined blazer! Mills also donned pieces from Prada and Gucci. You know a model has made it when the photo shoot comes to the model, rather than the other way around.

Awkward - Igor Stepanov by Darren Black.

Have you been in a situation where a friend/acquaintance totally over stayed their welcome? I for one would not be the one to actually point it out or kick him out. To my experience, I always know and most of the time and sometimes pre-empt the awkward situation. One, I know I know, I or the other person I'm with could have totally said something but we didn't. Out of politeness maybe. I for one don't like to boss around people this early in the game. But I think everybody should be aware of the situation they're in or getting into. A drink is a drink and not a four hour hang out extravaganza. I don't mean to blast it but this is afterall my blog.

Totally separates the hierarchy of friends, really.

Today we have a portfolio update with one of the models on the rise, Igor Stepanov. Stepanov was shot by Darren Black.

Going For Gold - Danny Beauchamp & Patrick O'Donnell by Arnaldo Anaya-Lucca

I feel like lately, I come home to my house just to sleep. How do I know that? Well, the TV remote has not left where I left it on the shelf from the weekend . . . on Sunday! Then again I had the most wonderful sleep last night . . . just not at my house.

Today would be busy, busy, busy. I have a full schedule today and some change. Last night, the person I'm dating (South City) asked me how was work and I told South City it was hectic,  South City responded that they would rather be busy at work than enjoying the afternoon at the park (I know what's wrong with this picture?!). It was such a nice day yesterday that I wish I could take work to the park and probably enjoy a glass of champagne while enjoying the sun and the soft breeze.

You know another sad realization, I have not seen one Olympic game this year. Not one, not even the opening ceremony, that's how busy I am.

Speaking of the Olympics, we have Danny Beauchamp and Patick O'Donnell in an editorial inspired by the event for the latest issue of Homme Style magazine. World renowned photographer, Arnaldo Anaya-Lucca photographed the duo showing of their various physical prowess in great accessories and pieces from Roberto Cavalli, Pebbles London, Karl Lagerfeld and John Varvatos to name a few. Styled by Dean Hau. As an accessory Buyer at my job, I'm in heaven.
