Winter Is Coming - Snow: A White Fashion Event - The Outfit

First and foremost, I have to say that I absolutely adore the fall/winter 2013-14 collection of Riccardo Tisci for Givenchy.  Alright now that is out of my system, on with the post.

It will exactly be a week from today that Snow: A white fashion event will take place in SOMA, San Francisco. My second year for getting invited for the event. I'm especially looking forward to see the collection of my favorite Menswear designer from last year, Cana Klebanoff. If you remember, I love his way of playing with shapes in his pieces. I'm also interested to see what the tailored suitings of the Artful Gentleman have in store for us. Of course, Joseph Domingo's creations will surely close the show with a bang. Cari Borja, Charmosa and Julie Schindler rounds up the designer list showing that night.

Since I went for the Gatsby inspired Maison Kitsune collection last year and It would be great to go on a different route this year. Of course, incorporating Riccardo Tisci's vision. It is no secret that Givenchy is definitely one of my favorite high fashion houses of all time. If I have not made that clear, re-read the first sentence of this post alone. The Spring/Summer 2013 collection probably would be one of my favorite collections that Tisci had put out ever since taking the Helm of the menswear division of the design house back in 2008. For some reason I have strange affinity to any religious influenced collections, thanks to attending a private Catholic school almost all my life, especially with Tisci's precision and vision.

So it's no secret that my inspiration and pieces would be from the ethereal and yet dark Givenchy Spring/Summer 2013 collection. I could have taken a specific look in the collection but a few looks gave me some great inspirations. I would have bought the sleeveless organza Madonna top but I don't think it wil be warm enough to wear one on the 26th. I also need to think about wearability. I love statement pieces but I also want to buy expensive pieces that I could wear in a regular basis and not just during fashion week. Practicality wins.

Special Report: Dapper Who? - Dapperhood Menswear Styling Network Launch Event

Fashion week wouldn't be complete without the parties . . . I mean networking events. Alright, I was really excited that this year that they had an event where fashionable men of San Francisco were celebrated. I know, I know I'm not going to compare it to New York but alas! I was happy to see that the men of San Francisco stepped up to the occasion!

The party networking event was held at the Rstate store in downtown San Francisco. I've passed the store numerous times but it was my first time to actually step inside the store. I saw a few pieces that I sort of wanted especially the fact that I'm in the market for boots right at the moment.

One of the featured companies tonight was The Tie Society which was like a Netflix for ties. I thought it was an interesting idea since, honestly, why do only women have these rent-a-purse/shoes companies? Another person that I spoke to was a jewelry designer that has the potential to be big. Sure this sounded like the buyer side of me was talking but I do love his bracelets.

ANYWAY, here were some of the looks that I love from last night.

• The first guy (left) had this interesting details on his jacket 
• I love the print shirts and the pop of color on our second and third guys
• fourth guy had a great YSL pin that I so want!
• Last guy had this Jack Spade backpack that I thought was very reminiscent of the Louis Vuitton backpack that I wanted

• I love the undeniable cool of the first guy from his shirt to his shoes
• Love the shirt, love the bag on the second
• Great colorful sweater/bowtie combo and the guy on the plaid jacket is an accessory designer that I love
• classically dapper, he looked so well put together. 

• I love this color combination A LOT
• Probably the most interesting trio of the night
• *Sigh*  Prep-erfection on the pink shirt and bowtie
• I really love the way this guy incorporated the military inspired aesthetic
• The brave man with the three piece suit

and of course the last and but not the least . . .

• I was wearing my vintage fedora, Dior wrap, My black studded Givenchy sleeveless shirt, Zara khaki shorts, black socks and my Generic Man/Comme des Garcons brogues the look inspired by my current obsession, Robert Geller.

Black As Night - Black V 2012: The Outfit

Was there something in the water? A handful of my Facebook friends changed their relationship status to single in the last couple of days. Mine included (I just changed mine back to in a relationship last night and the response was confusion). My bestfriend added that everybody was getting ready for Summer flings, joking of course. I never thought of that. Summer is definitely coming in full speed. The question is, am I ready? Let's just say that I haven't really thought of planning my vacation for the fact that I really don't have the time to do it.

On Saturday, I will be attending the Black V fashion event that would be held at The Landmark at 1 Market street in the Embarcadero/South Beach part of town. Compared to the Snow show last January, the collections for this event will be inspired by the dark, rich mood of black. I missed the show last year because of my trip to LA. So I'm quite excited to be able to attend this year. 

The Designers showing this year as listed on the ticket website includes, Acta Non Verba, Cari Borja, Daniel Sudar, d'Homme by Dahae Kim, Gail B Shrive, Kate Knuvelder, Ken Chen San Francisco, and Zoe Hong.

I'm familiar with some of the works of a few designers on the list. 

So I have been thinking about what to wear for the event. The theme this year was black and gold so the first thing that popped in my head, my Versace for H&M shorts with my Givenchy legging trousers. I'm still considering it but right now I'm against it just for the reason that I already wore the shorts to a fashion event back in February. 

So, since Dior Homme's Spring/Summer 2012 collection was still on my mood board by my workspace at home, I'm sticking with my guns. I know, sleeveless?! Right. I always feel iffy about showing arm but sometimes fashion requires it. So I dug up my vintage Prada, sleeveless button down and work from there. It is summer and if the forecast stayed true, going sleeveless would be smart. This time around I would be staying true with Kris Van Assche's minimalist approach. Less can sometimes be more.

It's Not Like The Movies - Jean Paul Gaultier at The deYoung Museum

What a weekend. It was fun but never long enough like always. I have to apologize for not posting something yesterday. The weekend kicked my butt and by the time I had gone home on Sunday. I had to deal with something of the matter of E.S..

The most challenging thing about a long distance relationship or any other relationship I suppose would be trust. Without it, whatever you might think you have with that other person will crumble like a sand castle with the coming tide. Insecurity will always be an ugly trait but it is only human to have insecurities. So, jealousy would be an uglier one. As an individual, one should always know their self worth and wether you were being devalued by another. Somebody once told me that the best looking people were sometimes the most insecure . . . or something like that. On the flip side, if one is jealous that means that they do care, right?

At the end of the day, we really can't control everybody around us. if one is out with friends and somebody shows interest. Flirt but remember who's coming home with you or not coming home with you.

I know too deep and it's just Tuesday.  I did say it was an eventful weekend.

Last Friday, I went to the first Friday Nights of the year at the deYoung museum. It is when the museum opens till around nine pm and have some form of installation or a performance in support of what's the main exhibit. This time its Jean Paul Gaultier. It was nice to see some of the most iconic pieces up close. From costumes worn in movies, Madonna on tour to coveted pieces from collections from the 70's to the recent years. As an accessory fanatic, I had to say that some of the pieces were oh-so amazing.

If you find yourself in the city, I would suggest to check out the exhibit but experience it on Friday nights.
