I guess it was about time that winter comes to SF. For the past couple of days the temperature had been dipping to the lower 40's which to most standards is not that cold but compared to the beautiful weather last week? Yep, I had to break out the sweaters and my lighter coats. My week has been slightly packed and eventful ~~to say the least~~ both professionally and socially.

Speaking of warmer weather, today's editorial featured a new breed of swimwear that American men are slowly embracing . . . for the good or the bad. Will Davidson lensed the editorial with the styling help of Stevie Dance for the latest issue of Details Magazine. Dance showcased beachwear by Prada, Gucci, Louis Vuitton and Versace to name a few.

I personally at not that point yet to wear a skimpy number but I've been wearing a rather loose trunks as swim wear. I just remember I read somewhere in an American magazine making fun one of the celebs wearing trunks at the beach. I just shook my head at the columnist.

Rituals and superstitions, everyone believes on at least one. From the sorta cray-cray to the uber cray-cray. The other night while talking to New York about food, Japanese food in fact. New York mentioned that you should never pour your own sake because it is seven years bad sex. I thought it was ridiculous and the fact that I didn't know about this is even more ridiculous. I personally think that if you're having bad luck ~~or bad sex~~, you're the only one to blame. Go change your luck.

Today's editorial features the most celebrated bullfighter at the moment Jose Maria Manzanares. The editorial story appears on the latest issue of VMan magazine that's photographed by Jean-Baptiste Mondino and styled by Carine Roitfeld. Manzanares is outfitted with pieces from the lines of Givenchy and Prada.

I love those horn earrings by Riccardo Tisci for Givenchy, the more I see them on editorials. Next purchase perhaps? New York you're reading this, right?

Runway Monday: Chilaxin' - Marni at H&M

My weekend went by like it never existed. After an . . . interesting fashion show on Saturday (Runway round up coming later this week), I pretty much just spent the whole weekend hanging out socializing with people or talking on the phone with New York . . . not I'm complaining or anything. Do you all think it would be weird to have an iPhone Facetime date where we both go to a restaurant and just chat while we eat? Oh the woes of a long distance relationship.

Well, Another full week is upon us.

For today's Runway Monday. I think it's about time to feature Marni at H&M. Eventhough I sort of like how easy-comfy looking the collection is, not to mention completely wearable, I'm still on the fence about it all. Of course there are pieces that I would want to own, like the vest and probably the spring/summer scarf. The prints on the shirts are quite nice as well.

Another reason I am sort of not excited about it is because it is being released on March 8th, a Thursday! Umm that's a work week for most people. Is it worth camping out? Perhaps. According to a few bloggers that I follow that got their sweaty (or not that sweaty) hands on the pieces before everybody did the quality is better than the previous capsule collections.

Adrian Bosch is the face of the Marni at H&M lookbook that mirrors the Marni Spring/Summer 2012 collection.

The commercial by Soffia Coppola is quite nice as well, very mellow. After the video a link to the behind the scenes is included. So, follow that and just listen to Coppola's soothing voice as she explains her vision.

Another weekend is here! Love + Rock & Roll fashion event is tonight but before that, I have a few social and professional responsibilities to do. Last night, I was working till the last minute for a project that I'm not even involved in. I know I'm such a good samaritan or just sucking up. I guess we will never know. I also attended the opening of Asterisk magazine's art gallery/office. It's in my neighborhood in the Mission so why not. It was fun and I'm glad to see some friends and acquaintances at that event. I loved the artists' installations, and the great bartender. Especially the one about a long distance relationship by Carissa Potter. Amazing and of course my friend's great artwork, Boris Jovanovic.

In this week's closing editorial, We have one of Milan Vukmirovic's project for his new magazine Fashion for Men. In the first issue, he shoots Travis Cannata and Ian Mellencamp in pieces from the last line of D&G that is styled by Scarlett Viquel.

Like I always say Milan has such great eye and he captures the most interesting images.

Black & Gold Part 2 - Love + Rock & Roll: The Outfit

Yesterday after work, I went to my hat store extraordinaire, Goorin Bros in the Haight district to buy a wide brim fedora but they didn't have my size. I was devastated and panicked a bit. What does a fashionisto do at a fashion crisis like this? Go vintage. The Haight was perfect for that. What do you know, I found, eventhough not as dramatic ala outback/amish looking, a hat that had character which I loved. Another good thing about the purchase? It cost a fraction of my budget for the Goorin hat.

This weekend will be events after another for me, starting tonight at a Gallery party and of course, an Oscar party this Sunday.

But tomorrow, I will be attending another local fashion event called Love + Rock & Roll. The designer line up includes West Coast Leather, Rogue, Alyssa Nicole, Bradley Douglas Jordan, Cirque Noir, Eimaj Design and Zubauen. More than anything I'm just excited about the venue since it would be at the American Industrial Center in the Dog Patch. I rarely if not ever go to that part of town but recently great restaurants and art galleries and studios had been popping over there. Not to mention, the old warehouses turning to chic lofts are located there.

I also included a link at the end of this post to where to get tickets and get additional info for the event. Check it out! I'm a host eventhough they got my last name wrong.

The inspiration for my outfit comes from Kris Van Assche's Dior Homme Spring/Summer 2012 collection and Robert Geller's. Since the weather has been amazing, I don't have to worry about wearing a coat. I also chose a darker hue because what's rock and roll without black and gold?

Black & Gold Part 1 - Matt Woodhouse & Toby Denyer by Toby Knott

It seemed everybody was having one of those very long short work week, me included. So I ended up celebrating hump day by watching a hockey game in North Beach and finishing the night catching up with a few friends over drinks. Sure, I didn't get to talk to New York that long but it was okay. We were both busy hanging out with friends.

In today's editorial that appeared in Rollacoaster magazine. Matt Woodhouse and Toby Denyer appeared in a black and gold pieces by Yves Saint Laurent, Calvin Klein, Gucci and American Apparel. The editorial was shot by Toby Knott and styled by Way Perry.

Mardi Gras or should I say Fat Tuesday was yesterday. I grew up Catholic but I have not practiced fasting nor watched what I ate during lent in years. I know my mother would be Oh-So proud. Eversince college, to me, Mardi Gras has only been associated with consumption of some form of alcoholic beverage on a weeknight. But hey how is that any different from an after-work activity with 20-somethings semi/professionals like myself. Not a ~~damn~~ thing. It is what it is.

For my mid-week editorial post, I give you a great editorial story that appears on the current issue of Flaunt magazine. Some Dudes Marry Dudes is photographed by Ruvan Wijesooriya and features top models Chad White and Brian Shimansky. The faux-couple were styled by Long Nguyen with pieces by Giorgio Armani, Yves Saint Laurent, Tom Ford, and Versace to name some.

Runway Round-Up: Mercedes-Benz New York Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2012-13 Menswear

It has been a great weekend of meeting new interesting people, reconnecting with old friends and saying goodbye to singledom. Yes, I had agreed to become somebody's plus one or vice versa. Eventhough that the situation is a little ridiculous since I'm talking about a long-distance relationship. Okay not ridiculous but definitely crazy.

It's finally done! Here's my report from last week's New York fashion week menswear round-up. For this season I'm going to leave the round-up as a compilation of my top five looks of the collections. I know this is a huge post but just imagine if I have to report on each menswear collection. I love that this season mimicked a number of trends from fall/winter 2011-12. Color for fall and winter like maroon, yellow and blues. Another recurring trend were black caps and floppy wide brimmed hats. Headwear is definitely here to stay.

For the certain select people that truly knows me, I can be funny and witty. But with that, sarcasm comes second nature to me and my sharp tongue and quips what gets me in trouble. On Facebook and/or twitter I usually quote things that people say to me that I find amusing. Sure the punch line usually comes at a high price at the expense of the guilty party but I just flash my 10,000 watt smile and it's alright. No harm, no foul . . . most of the time. So I find it amusing that my Canadian New Yorker is feeling left out that I haven't quote anything from our conversations . . . yet.

Well I'm not that mean. If I like a person I do have tact and keep things in perspective. A little ground rule on over sharing in a social networking site, if the person really matters to you, keep it private. Other than that, share away.

That's A Wrap! - Mercedes Benz Fashion Week New York

Alright, another New York fashion week wraps up and I'm almost done going through the pictures and videos of the shows that I missed. I think it is a great overall season's collections. Nothing really made me cringe. Although a handful of previous favorites did not show this season. The ones that did, I loved. Not to mention a few surprises from big hitters like Tommy Hilfiger and Siki Im.

Again, I would like to thank every designer (and their PR people) for the invites for this season's shows. I deeply appreciate the recognition. Yeah, it sort of makes all of this worthwhile.

On a side note, I'm working non-stop to get the round-up up by the end of the week. London Fashion Week starts tomorrow and I return to "reality" today. My regular Thursday Trend Report/What I Want post will resume next week.

I have a day to collect myself from my suitcase before I go back to work. It has been a crazy couple of days of running around, literally. But last night made it all worth while, per se. I have to apologize for not posting anything yesterday but I'm in the the process of compiling my Menswear runway round-up for New York Fashion Week. It's been non-stop "work" on my part and I try to squeeze in to see some of the shows in between and mingling. But today is a semi-important day, it's Valentine's Day also known as Singles Awareness Day. Whoop-ti-doo!

Well, wether you will be with your special someone or just a group of your single friends talking ~~shit~~ about those couples celebrating the holiday that card companies made up. Try to have a good time. I know I will and I have a date with my Canadian New Yorker. Good thing about this, all I need to do is show up.

Finally, the last day of my work week and I'm off to Las Vegas for the trade shows and then New York for the last stretch of fashion week! Eventhough that this trip wouldn't be as glamorous and hopping from show to show it would be a good trip. At least I'll get to see New York and I'm talking about the person and not the city . . . which the city would be a welcoming site as well but I'm more excited what will this trip will entail moving around on New York's stomping grounds. I'm crossing my fingers and hopefully no more surprises from my sister's baby shower tomorrow to my upcoming trip.

I hope everybody will have a good Friday at work.

The blue haired Ramiro del Rio is photographed by Charly V Real featuring edgy looks from Pablo Bernard, Grupo 134 and Cuatro Musas. Sure, some looks are completely unwearable but the drama of the shoot is enough for me to fall in love with them. Sometimes I love dreamy editorials because I like how the stylist and the photographer work together creating a scene for the intended readers. For everything to work copacetic both should understand their target demographic. I mean I have yet to see avante garde editorial in GQ magazine. I'm pretty sure you get my drift.

Things That I Want: Pinned To The Wall

Going through my Facebook feed wall and checking my email and seeing the confirmations of my decline to shows makes me sad. I'm still in San Francisco and New York fashion week is well on its way. Oh well, I just have to deal with it. On a good note, the weather has been nothing short of spectacular. Also a Mcqueen purchase also arrived in the mail yesterday. Google Adam Lambert and you might see which one I got. I also found a very entertaining video by GQ team preparing for New York fashion week. In reality, that's how I packed for NYFW Spring/Summer 2012 and my hotel room became a giant closet last September. I attached the GQ video at the end of this post.

The idea of safety pins as details on a garment is by no means revolutionary. I have seen it before from tame to the most avant garde looks. Honestly, the reason I'm considering this week's Things That I Want is I would like to have a jacket/blazer paired with the Versace shorts I got last year. I'm still on the border wether to get a studded blazer or this safety pin jacket both from Dsquared's Spring/Summer 2012 line. The Frankie Morello spiked jacket that is part of the Fall/Winter collection is also in consideration. I like it because it just gives the look an extra edge without overdoing it. Which I think is the key to a great outfit.

The bad thing about owning statement pieces, either go simple or bring it to the next level. There is no middle ground. So buckle up or get lost in your clothes. The jacket retails for $1445.

Alright so the shows and presentations begin today. I'm still a little bummed that I'm stuck at work and haven't left for my trip yet. I'm actually more stressed out because of the last minute surprises that has been presenting themselves. Minor complications but so much for no surprises. Really. With V-day (Valentine's Day) coming, my email is bombarded with great deals from flower shops and chocolatiers I have used in the past. Honestly, being not spoken for this year makes it easier for me to prepare for the unofficial holiday, do nothing. I know that someone in New York is planning something but that's out of my hands besides as it turns out, my trip to New York will depend how efficient I perform in Las Vegas. If I can get everything done and no surprises presents itself I will be there just in time for Valentine's day errr . . . I mean last stretch of New York Fashion Week.

In the latest issue of the Spanish magazine Neo2, Niki Burton and Javier V. appears on an editorial story that is lensed by Jose Morraja. It Takes Time To Be A Man is styled by Leticia Orue with pieces from Dior Homme, Dsquared2, and Louis Vuitton to name a few.

I love that this editorial is featuring my next purchase, The Dsquared2 blazer. Alright my fashionistos and fashionistas today will be a long day for me. Have a good one.

Runway Monday: The Bird Of Paradise - Givenchy Spring/Summer 2012 Review

For my fellow Americans, we celebrated over the weekend the most exciting and expensive event of the season, Super Bowl Sunday. Eventhough that my hometown team, the 49ers, fell short; it was an exciting game between the Patriots and The Giants. . . . Okay I'm pretty sure half of the people who watched the game tuned in to see Madonna perform during the half-time show. Like a friend said,

"Have you heard? there was some football game at the Madonna concert."

Or Animal Planet's Puppy Bowl. Or the great and, yes, expensive commercials they showed in between plays. Either way, they were all entertaining. So, congratulations to the New York Giants, for winning this year's Super Bowl. I can't wait for mr. New York to rub it on my face when I get there at the end of the week. Oh the joy ~~and yes, this is what sarcasm looks like.~~

For this week's Runway Monday Review, I present to you Riccardo Tisci's Givenchy Spring/Summer 2012 collection. This collection featured the IT print for S/S season the bird of paradise. The collection came out lighter, and I'm not talking about the color palette, compared to few seasons before in which somewhat always had a dark, ominous and goth-esque feel to the collection. The collection, as always, featured a very masculine silhouette but played on the verge of androgyny with looks paired with skirts/kilts. Another aspect that gave the collection an avante garde-ism was the kaleidoscope effect of the prints that on some looks were sequined giving the pieces texture and softness to the masculine references of Hawaiian surf wear. Another detail that I loved from the collection were the interesting hemming and cut outs on the sweatshirt and tanks. I just adored Tisci's attention to detail, as always. The horn earrings, the high gloss sandals, and the leggings just brought the vision together.

Polished - Janice Fronimakis by Andoni & Arantxa

As a fashionisto, one of the things I strive for, besides a stellar contact list, is a polished wardrobe. I know I've been guilty in the past in buying statement pieces and never wore them ever again. But I think I found a balance. As an editor and buyer it is important for me to stay true to my aesthetic but still incorporate trends to my daily wardrobe. Not that hard since lately the more tailored looks are in trend.

The weekend is here and the calm before the storm. My business trip to Las Vegas and NYFW is next weekend. I have a full work week next week so I will be enjoying my weekend relaxing. Thanks to a great California weather, I can do that and catch some rays as well.

This week has been a little crazy running around in between jobs, projects, and social responsibilities. Not to mention a very stressful day yesterday, I'm not going on to the excruciating details, but at the end of the night I felt better, thanks to a certain somebody taking the time to make a call and cheering me up eventhough we are worlds (the whole US, to be exact) apart. Thanks New York and yes if you're reading this, this is your name on my blog. If Carrie Bradshaw have a Mr. Big ~~eventhough I'm not 100% familiar with the series~~ so can I.

So I'm glad to have a pseudo quiet day today . . . well until this afternoon that is. It is Friday and my weekend starts today. I can't believe that NYFW starts next week! Time flies by when you're busy and/or having fun.

In this editorial entitled Too Young To that appears on the new French magazine, Apollo Novo, Jerome Wyvekens and Lucas Lemoine plays two too young rich and rowdy boys with a penchant for toys and fashion. The shoot is lensed by Jean Francois Gschwindt and styled by Richard Voinnet with a colorful ensemble by Acne, Jeremy Scott, Maison Martin Margiela, and Walter Van Beirondonck.

Honestly, this reminds me of some of the people I knew from my private high school. The ones that got pissed off since daddy didn't give them *insert luxury car name here* but instead they got *insert ANOTHER luxury car name here* for reaching the age of 16 without overdosing and/or embarrassing their parents enough to be sent to boarding school. Oh how I miss those carefree days.

Things That I Want: Marlon Gobel Is 'Prints' Charming

People always ask me if I always buy brand names. Usually, I would go do my rounds and if I see something I like I buy it. I don't have any qualms in terms of names. If it is good quality and I want it, why not. But at the same time, I'm loyal to a number of designers that just exemplifies what I feel like my aesthetic. What dapper means to me.

One of those designers is Marlon Gobel. Season after season, he never fails to wow me. I just love his play with colors and textures. So it totally saddens me, if you read my post yesterday, that I have to turn down my invitation to my favorite designer's show and he is also debuting his collection for the first time at Lincoln Center. I REALLY wish I can attend the show. Especially his collection will be featuring Swarovski elements. I guess I will enjoy the show in my hotel room in Viva Las Vegas.

Okay, enough moping.

This week's "things that I want" post calls for some prints. Not only bright colors come into trend every spring but prints as well. We have seen some great prints from big hitters like Givenchy, Versace, and Burberry Prorsum's Spring/Summer 2012 runway collections to name a few. But to no secret I do have my favorite, the Marlon Gobel HD print dress shirts. It is so unexpected that I love it, especially the Asparagus motif one. I know it comes in different vibrant colors and produce but for some reason, I gravitate to the Asparagus. Then again, it is also no secret that I have a strange affinity with the color green and probably Asparagus as well.

A New Year To Be Thankful For . . .

Way to start off the New Year with a bang! A few colab projects lined up, a couple of major shows already under my belt and it's just February. I have to turn down some of the shows I got invited to for New York fashion week namely my MOST important invite this season, Marlon Gobel, because I will be in Las Vegas for a couple of trade shows. Yes, I'm still bummed out that I can't go but alas work comes first. In a good note, I'm anxious to see what the exhibitors have to offer in these trade shows and find that it item of the season and finish off my week and fly out to NYC for the remainder of NYFW.

But right now I would like to thank the designers that has recognized the existence of this blog. I know there are literally millions of us out there and to be recognized is an honor. Thank you for the invites to the shows and the individuals that offered collaborations. Of course, my fashionistos and fashionistas around the world who visits my site regularly. Lastly, my family and friends and this someone that I always forget that lives three hours ahead of me, wink . . . I wish every time I wink, it makes that *ding* sound.

Even though realistically speaking there is no upper-east side in San Francisco, we have the Pac. Heights and the Marina district or just stand on top of a hill (pick one there are a few of them in SF) and you'll be surrounded my million dollar residences. So this applies to most cities, where you live will have a certain connotation that reflects about you. If you really think about it our society is just like high school and to my case, we're just out of uniform and much more expensive clothes.

The Wiener Model's fresh face, Martin Beranek is featured in a very elegant and sartorial photo shoot with Kosmas Pavlos. Barenek is outfitted by Felix Leblhuber and Max Marzinger in dapper looks fit for an Uptown Boy.

Runway Monday: Sizzling Snow - Snow: A White Fashion Event Runway Round-Up

Saturday night forecasted Snow, well not really. Actually it was a gorgeous ~~summer~~ I mean winter day. The temperature pushing 65 really, If I can recall. But I did attend the Snow fashion event that night. The show took place at a transformed runway establishment in the SOMA district of San Francisco.

As I mentioned on my previous posts that the show called for the collection's and the attendees to wear an all white attire. To be honest it was interesting to see how did the others fair with this simple task. It was a mixed crowd. Some wore great head to toe looks of mixed fur (and faux fur), satin, lace, leather and linen while others fell on the way side wearing Hollister hoodies, and ughness-track suits but at least these people tried. There were a few people I saw that just didn't understand what "all white attire" meant; one wearing a pink WITH small white details on her dress and a couple eventhough interesting were wearing khaki/dirty gold colored looks. So I ask, did they get the memo that I got? Then again these were the individuals sitting behind me and a few rows back. But everybody that was sitting next to me on the front row looked impeccable in all white looks.

Before the show began, a little wise runway etiquette was given to the front row. DO NOT CROSS YOUR LEGS. Bravo! ~~I wish they also included to remove your sunglasses too to those celebrity wannabe that were wearing them that night.~~ I mean the humanity! The sunset was hours before the show started. Sigh.

On to the shows.

Violeta Vieux showed her great women's evening wear and cocktail dresses. The details on these dresses were amazing. Another part of the show was three floor-grazing gowns transformed to cocktail dresses right on the runway. Some of the looks I've seen from last year's SF fashion week.

Julie Schindler showed a white collection that featured two piece sets of outerwear/jackets paired with wide leg pants. It also included a very interesting almost quilted looking jacket. It was probably the most wearable collection and easily marketable collection that night.

Cana Klebanoff was the only designer that featured menswear that night. The tailored suits and jackets were great and especially the one with the high collar. But the star of the of the show were the pants with a pleating detail on the sides. I almost felt guilty to think it kinda sucked because that they were white pants? I'm hoping they would come in a darker color. Yes eventhough I wore white pants that night I'm still iffy about wearing them. Time to call Cana Klebanoff to find out.

The wigged models showcased Herbert Williamson's all-white collection with a pretty almost upper eastsider (Manhattan) appeal. I loved how the wigs actually accentuated the luxe collection. I personally liked the off-shoulder looks.

Cari Borja's playful collection featured both menswear and womenswear. The show opened up with a playful tule dress that will make any twelve year old jealous. The male models whom ended up showing some skin featured great easy beach-y linen looks.

Last but not the least Joseph Domingo, The high-heeled designer closed the night with a fantasy collection. The collection featured an amazing flowy tiered dress, a lace gown with an amazing train detail and a beautiful body hugging sequined(?) gown.

Overall, the collections were beautiful and some of the the details were just exquisite. I just wished that the ratio of menswear to womenswear was higher like last year's Snow fashion show.

I love when old friends ~~aka exes~~ visits my town. One, I'm a firm believer that being cordial with your exes does not mean you want to get back with them. I mean I just don't want to feel like I wasted a part of my youth just because it didn't work out. Two, who knows you better than that someone that you shared the most intimate part of your life. And Lastly, you would never know how these people can help you in the long haul . . . and then there are the exceptions, those exes that I would probably set myself on fire first before I talk to them again.

Kidding aside, Life is too short for regrets accept the reality and move on. Be brave. Once you see that each person does teach you one thing or another in this thing that we call life the better you feel about yourself and your life.

Besides meeting with these people from your past is sometimes a validation for good or bad that you did or not do the right thing.

The good news is, the weekend is just starting and the Snow Fashion Show is tonight. Have a bubbly and enjoy your weekend my fashionistos and fashionistas! You deserve it!

Joseph Bleu and Alex Alvarez capture the boys in a new front also known as the beach while Polar Buranasatit outfitted the boys with the current and next season's trends.

Forecast: Snow - Snow Fashion Event

You've read it from my previous posts that this Saturday (tomorrow) is the most awaited Snow Fashion Show. An exclusive all-white attire event that will be held in Cowden in SF. I know, I know I have said in the past that I would try to deviate from the tight dress code and wear a lighter khaki drop crotch pants by Vivienne Westwood but as a back-up I did went to get white pants (ugh) last Friday. Well I suppose that it was a blessing in disguise since the pants actually showed up a lot darker hue than the pictures on the V.W. website.

The fashion show is not by any means a reflection of the season but rather the all white collection that Cana Klebanoff, Cari Borja, Herbert Williamson, Julie Schindler, Violetta Vieux and Joseph Domigo will be showing.

It has been quite a while since I planned for an all-white attire and the last time was a beach wedding. So, the easiest way to get around an all white attire . . . I mean without wearing a white tux would be either go for the literal snow attire meaning a white knit and probably a white scarf or go the beach/Miami white attire. Both, I thought, would be a little depraved and most likely be the easy way out.

So my outfits to events are in the most part inspired by what I see from shows and editorials. The inspiration for the Snow event? The Maison Kitsune Spring/Summer 2012 collection. The collection itself is inspired by the literary piece, The Great Gatsby. I think the 1920's is probably one of my favorite eras in terms of clothing.

I wish that the person I really liked live where I live but a whole country separates us. Me living in San Francisco and the other person living in New York. Sort of like from that movie with Drew Barrymore.

It is especially trying when I want to actually do something couple-y and I have to settle for another person. To as simple as watching a movie. Luckily I have good friends but alas not the same.

I'm not as sentimental as other nor I'm feeling it since the whole Valentines thing is coming, it just dawned on me that what I have IS a long distance thing. The thing I sworn off on.

Paris Men's Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2012 - 2013 - Day 5

The final day of my Paris runway round-up! Paris finished strong this season. There were a few collections that I found really great when it comes to details. Now to look forward to a few local upcoming shows then I'm off to Las Vegas and then New York on February.

Without further ado, the top five looks from the final day of Paris Menswear fashion week.

Acne was all about the details and texture, I love how the collection unfolded from the all black looks to the colors and then closed again with the blacks. All-around great pieces paraded the Acne runway this season.

The quirky designer showcased a great collection of well tailored pieces and knits. I love the playful cape! I wouldn't wear it but it looked great in the show. Other than that, the ghosts prints on the sweaters were cute.

Arnys once again showcased a collection with a hint of french 18th century. I said hint because the looks had a more modern cut and did not feel too dated. The color story of the collection mirrored a very cool autumn air.

Great color blocking and classic tailoring.

Drop crotch pants, hint of fur and leather? what else can I ask for. If there would be a collection that would surmise my over all look for this year, this would be it. Loved it! Avery relaxed tailoring and styling.

Another great collection from Ossendrijver, I love how most of the outer fit a little quirky yet fit the model's body just right. A lot of the pieces referenced the 70's but the collection was from dated. There were a few pieces that I loved especially some great accessories. The hats?! OMG. I also liked the slouched leather bags.

Great outerwear pieces but I'm not really familiar with the brand.

A lot were disappointed with lack of "lines" for the new Paul Smith collection. I actually liked the fisherman/nautical theme of the collection, especially the green sweater that gave a slight metallic sheen. The color scheme remained in the more darker hues but with little pops of color here and there.

Qasimi as I expected showcased a collection that somewhat hinted millitary but more street. The tartans and the transparent shirts were great paired with the long-floor-grazing skirts. Strong patterns like the ones featured in this collection can cheapen the looks but this was not true in this case. The pieces still looked luxe and sophisticated.

A plethora of gold lame, leather and embellishments. A lot of hit and miss in this collection. The avante garde looks pushed the boundaries of being obscene and fashionable. But I couldn't help but cringe on some of the looks that paraded the runway.

A well-tailored collection featuring pieces that I've seen from collections from the last two weeks. Trend or not, the luxe collection felt uninspired to me probably because I have seen the same looks from the other collections? Perhaps. The collection was not bad by any means just a bit safe. I'm just glad to see more wearable pieces this time around.

Oh Thom Browne, never a dull day. three main looks paraded the runway, a masked man, a hulking brute or a spiked hair diva. Yes, the shoulder pads were built in the outfit. As always with a Thom Browne show, look closer to find the wearable pieces and there were a lot of great jackets, trousers and accessories that were actually nice.

Day 5: Acne, Agnes B, Arnys, Bill Tornade, Franck Boclet, Lanvin, No Editions, Paul Smith, Qasimi, Rynshu, Songzio, Thom Browne.

Paris Men's Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2012 - 2013 - Day 4

Yesterday, I was on my way out of work when I noticed this woman wearing what seemed like a pair of Louboutin spiked flats. So I slowed down my walk and actually checked it out. With closer inspection (and when she actually walked past me) no red soles. False alarm. So I figured they're just the a lot cheaper Jeffrey Campbell's.

Sometimes it surprises me how much I get excited when people seemed to splurge on themselves. Probably to justify to myself that it was okay to buy e~~xpensive and exclusive~~ things for yourself AND to once and for all say that fashion people do live in San Francisco and not just hipsters and wanna-be hipsters.

Okay, here were my top 5 picks for the Day 4 shows.

I loved the ombre effect on the pieces. A little dark but then again, a Demeulemeester collection was a touch dark all the time. Eventhough that most looks featured black and white there were a shock of blue and red here there that I found great.

Aside from the crazy looks of pornstar/athlete/hobo, there were a few pieces that were quite nice like the animal prints and the busy printed sweaters. Some of the pants looked as if they can double as shirts.

The lush collection featured velvet and great outerwear with a smidge oversized.

Another collection featuring a slight oversized outerwear. The shapes were interesting and the color palette was a on trend. Overall the head designer for Jean Paul Gaultier womenswear showed a luxe and interesting menswear collection.

Featuring some tribal cues to their fall collection, Damir Doma veered away from what was popular this season which was military that resulted to a very rich and luxe collection. I just loved the layering of great textures from the fur, to the wool and wooden bead necklaces. A little different from what I got used to with Damir Doma but great nonetheless.

Kris Van Assche served up full military for this season's Dior Homme collection. I love the new silhouettes and camouflage/bird print on the pieces. Genius. For once, his own line and Dior didn't mimic each other! Not that I'm complaining for I adore both. Another favorite of mine for Day 4 definitely.

The luxe collection showed great tailoring and amazing leather pieces. There were reviews about the collection saying that it was a little louche but I thought that Hermes just showed a very modern fit and undeniably catering to the younger rich fashionistos on their pants and I didn't really had a problem with it personally. Of course not.

Kenzo showed a very young and refreshing take on what seemed like vintage looks. Great prints and colors were a bit a surprise to what seemed a very monochromatic collections for this fall/winter season.
But the simplest designs for this collection what truly shined.

Okay why was it always every season, and I mean EVERY season, there is always a "Derelic" collection (see Zoolander). The design team at MMM tried to spread awareness to recycle by incorporating plastic to some of the pieces. Towards the end when the furs came out was when I scratched my head. WTF. I mean either you commit to the message of awareness and all that was good for the earth or not.

Another favorite Paris show of mine for a number of seasons now showed a collection that slight militaristic in nature but not totally as obvious as the Dior collection. A lot of great jackets and outerwear. I absolutely love the sweater with a hint of fair isle detail on one arm. Another great piece was the poncho style bomber jacket.

Great prints and shearling pieces. I was not familiar with the brand so I did my research and found out that prints and color were their forte. Good to know since that was what this collection offered.

No pants at the Raf Simons show! I liked the idea of an oversized shirt over a regular shirt. The ombre sweater were nice. Eventhough that this collection was a little mature and less quirky than previous shows, it still has the playful feel that a Raf Simons collection was known for.

Eventhough the designs were classic it wasn't boring . . . just not enough for me to write anything about it really. Great, masculine silhouettes of winter basics.

Okay, this collection is what nightmares were made of only with better clothes. The masks just reminded me of some kind of hoodoo or voodoo or something that was practiced in backwoods of Louisiana. Okay back to the designs, amazing! Taking color and print blocking to another level. The mohair sweaters were great and how about that short shorts and thigh high boots? To me, what captured my attention were the accessories. The mask, the hats, shoes, bags, canes and necklaces were great. Now this is a show that was not boring at all.

A lot of belted looks that featured a classic high waisted pants with modern cuts with the outerwear.

Day 4: Ann Demeulmeester, Bernhard Willhelm, Cerruti, Christophe Lemaire, Damir Doma, Dior Homme, Hermes, Kenzo, Maison Martin Margiela, Mihara Yasuhiro, MSGM, Raf Simmons, Sacai, Walter Van Beirendonck, Wooyoungmi.

Paris Men's Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2012 - 2013 - Day 3

It was surprisingly dry on Saturday, so I ended up making some of my social responsibilities relatively dry. Even though I felt like death the night before but thanks to Nyquil I was better by the time brunch rolls along come Saturday.

Sunday was a really rough with the SF 49's got shut down by the NY Giants (American football to those wondering what I'm talking about) for the Super Bowl.

Oh well, Happy Monday nonetheless.

Paris fashion week, Day 3! A lot of strong avante garde looks today (or strong looks in general). The top 5 looks for Day 3.

Nothing truly extraordinary about the collection just great tailoring. The presentation itself was more interesting because of the settings where it took place the study, a dinner and outdoors, it was a great idea.

Another post-apocalyptic scenario collection? Perhaps. The truth was this collection was really great with the attention to detail with the layering and the draping. The leather jackets were something special.

I thought that the collection was bringing androgynous to another level but you know Marc Jacobs would totally wear this. The frilly collection not only featured skirts but flower prints. I do like the knit cardigan/jacket. Definitely skirts are in this fall.

Stars and Stripes seemed to be the new rottweiler/birds of paradise. The collection as always was really masculine even in skirts and tights. the color as always constituted browns, blacks, and reds. I'm not gonna say I totally hated this collection but for the first time in a number of seasons, I'm not a big fan of this collection . . . so far.

A bunch of reversibles and winter essentials. Nothing truly exciting but a great collection nonetheless.

Another collection lacking the brilliance (no matter what he said or did), John Galliano was not a John Galliano collection without the man. There were some great tailoring and, honestly, handsome looking jackets but the breeches eventhough interesting was a bit off. In the end it mimicked what we saw for their last collection, lack of story telling and direction that I come to expect from a Galliano collection.

Another modern, futuristic collection featuring great coats and dramatic outerwear.

A little bit country fashion . . . again. I dunno . . .

Okay eventhough with the wild exaggeration of proportions I thought this collection was totally wearable. A little dramatic but wearable. I'm absolutely all about the prints towards the end of the show. Beautiful. One of my highlights for this day.

I love Kris Van Assche's take on the the whole 50's madmen look. I personally loved the keikogi/blazers. The built-in tie bar was great as well. This was the thing that I love with Kris, he never fails to surprised me season after season.

Pilati showed a strong, amazing collection for Yves Saint Laurent this season. Amazing leather on black outfits that were handsome and masculine. But to me, the star of the collection were the shoes. The leather loafers with the gold metalic plates over them. Absolutely love!

Day 3: Berluti, Boris Bidjan Saberi, Comme Des Garcons, Givenchy, Gustavo Lins, John Galliano, Julius, Junya Watanabe, Juun J, Kris Van Assche, Yves Saint Laurent.

Paris Men's Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2012 - 2013 - Day 2

The forecast for the weekend was rain. Yesterday, I had to brave it so I can hunt for white pants that one, not my dad's pants, nor would I look like that I was going to the bahamas. Great thing I found it but I still wish that I could have used my Vivienne Westwood pants for the event next Saturday (which hasn't arrived yet).

Oh well, Happy Weekend, so I guess the good thing about all this rain was that, we would have snow in the Sierra's by the time. I decided to go skiing come late March.

Kimmel's collection this season featured a very classic, masculine silhouette. The designs were reminiscent of the 50's with a slight Area 51/Roswell sci-fi movie feel to it.

A great take on the renaissance. Romantic and dandy. I love the shirts with the lace collar. Alexis looked for inspiration from King Henry VIII and I thought succeded the collection was reminiscent of man but without being too costumey. I liked the drama.

The reflected the 80's to me. The color palette and the design.

I love that luxe pieces were married with more rugged appeal. The appeal of the upper garments were regal yet dressed down with biker boots and jeans. Resulting to a great balance of the luxe and rugged. I love this collection.

Way more subdued compared to past seasons, the Belgian designer took cues from Oscar Wilde and Frank Zappa. I love the revamped oxfords and the carrot pants with the super skinny belts.

I guess oversize was one of the trends this season. Eventhough the collection seemed odd at times, there were great pieces (especially knits) within the cray-cray.

High street fashion from Japan showcased cropped pleated pants and great explosion of color. I liked the outerwear the featured these three dimensional pyramid coats that surely was statement piece. Great Job!

Marrying high fashion and streetwear, this season's collection felt a little all over the place. The brand had been struggling ever since being sold to Puig. The collection was not a total lost since within it were pieces that actually look great while others seemed a little too worked on.

As the brand's runway debut, I thought the collection looked great. There were a lot of pieces that were interesting and felt handsome and cozy. I loved the fur trimmings on the jacket and as the name implies great color palette for a fall/winter collection.

Great bags . . .

Another favorite of mine, Kim Jones truly does push the boundaries of the LV brand. There were definitely eye catching pieces here that were reminiscent to the previous collection. I absolutely adore those arrow pins. I thought it gave the hats and the jackets an extra drama.

Sweaters as shawls and plastic parkas why not. The drama of the collection has doubled ever since moving the show from New York to Paris. I love the use of the geometric pieces and the subtle houndstooth print on most of the more dressy pieces.

Another collection that featured the over exaggerated and tremendously bulky outerwear with a slight tinge of Tron/futuristic tones on the designs.

Eventhough this collection was less quirky than the previous collections, check out the shoulder pads. Reminds me when I used to play hockey. Great knits and fur-ed out outerwear though.

Interesting layering as always and with the season of capes, it felt like Yohji's was a bit unnecessary layering rather than a intricate part of the look that gave the collections like Mugler and Dolce & Gabbana an extra dramatic effect.

Paris Men's Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2012 - 2013 - Day 1

A short day on the first day of shows in Paris on Wednesday but it didn't mean that it was boring. The shows mimicked some of the trends that we saw on our trip to Milan . . . capes!

Okay here are my top five looks for the shows on Day 1

Very subtle brilliance. As a collection, AMI was very simple but the texture and prints what stood out for me . . . and great shoes. These are the clothes that will make you stand out but not in a bad way.

Great masculine silhouettes with a tongue-in-cheek quirkiness with the crosses and prints AND the pins. There were some interesting pieces in this collection like pinned sweaters and gold patterned shirts but overly busy print was way too much for me. It was also somewhat refreshing that this season's show was a bit younger the the previous ones I have seen.

The color scheme and combinations were a bit extreme to me but there were some notable pieces like the wide leg trousers and shiny pieces paired with a semi see-through turtle neck. I liked the show.

Oh wow a Mugler collection that was actually wearable! The fabrics were rich and I love Formichetti and Kremer's take on a suspender. I think the duo was getting a balance of things. The show was dramatic but at the same time wearable. Not to mention tapping Azaelia Banks for the soundtrack was genius.

Great balance of the uber masculine elements and flamboyant pieces together. Nothing over designed or innovative just great pieces.

What's Paris fashion week without an urban Madmax collection? Great leather jackets in interesting cuts and shapes. I think the black jacket with the sweats, snood, see through shirt and boots was a great look.

Milan Men's Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2012-13 - Day 3 & 4

As promised the remaining two days of Milan menswear fashion week. I think overall the collections from the Milan shows are way tamer than usual. Of course, compared to Paris the Milan shows leans toward structure and tailoring rather than Avante garde-ism.

I can't believe it's already Thursday. The week went by fast but I'm not looking forward with the rain forecast over the weekend. I have a few social responsibilities lined-up and the rain might hinder that.

At any rate my top 5 looks from day 3 and 4 collections.

I'm surprised that they didn't have a runway show, but I can't believe how tame this collection was compared to the previous collections that is. Granted, I love every look and the aesthetic was just my cup of tea but it was missing McQueen's magic touch.

Great luxe pieces for the downtown man. One of the trends is mixing vintage looks with a slight twist of modern touch.

Great colors and textures but still very much office appropriate. I love that fur jacket with the red pants look. The slight 60's vibe was paired with modern day fit and tailoring.

The color story of the the collection reflects the ease that was a Daniele Alessandrini piece. The detachable fur lapels was a nice touch. I love the braided scarf then again I just might be biased since I love scarfs in general.

Dirk Bikkenbergs collection as to what I call the meat head learns fashion collection. Great pieces with a slight militaristic feel to it. I love the cashmere/felt caps and the black parka that Taylor wore. Just clean, very masculine collection.

Showing for the first time in Milan, the luxe line of diesel showcased great tailoring but a lot less "shiny" than their previous collections. I kinda liked the new look that Diesel Black Gold had this season.

Dsquared was bringing us back to school with great outerwear, especially that black leather with burnt brown pockets and lapel? Omg! So weather you were a jock, a dork, a bad boy or somewhere in between, Dsquared got you covered . . . in a quirky yet very wearable collection.

Enrico Coveri's collections always seemed cutesy and sweet. Was it because of the candy colored collection? Perhaps. Pink and back looked good together and the orange jacket was just awesome.

Etro heads to the South Americas! Feather hats and blazers, rich hues of tan and brown with great prints. I loved Etro's re-invention of the poncho. The jewel velvet jacket I liked a lot. Overall the use of prints and the color story made up a very strong collection. Bring out the nachos!

Hickey wear! the closed neck looks were a bit awkward with the high wasted pants that had a weird, quirky effect that I find interesting.

The sun kissed boys of Giorgio Armani walked down the runway in a VERY luxe collection. I love the printed fair isle sweaters. The collection echoed what have we seen this week, a lot of velvet and great leather pieces. I thought that going for a more softer look did Giorgio Armani good.

Heavy in fur and velvet, Gucci showed what Giannini do best, luxe. That tan jacket with the periwinkle / blue fur collar jacket I own but by Marc Jacobs. It LOOKS the same. Anyway.

Hipster wear! Kidding aside I liked the collection. The color story was great and the bowtied looks were great. I need that cogs lapel pin! The colors towards the end of the show was just great.

The collection showcased a very well rounded collection with a very masculine silhouette and a slight tinge of rock and roll.

Eventhough everything seemed lowkey, the prints were amazing, the color palette worked well with the prints. To me, the subtleness in design is made up for the great prints and color story.

Skater boy goes high fashion. I think the aesthetic was very young, and rich or for the young and rich. Great color palette and the prints that worked for the aesthetic.

There were a lot of pieces from this collection that worked well but a lot fell by the wayside but since their target audience were of the younger generation it sorta worked. The tailoring was there but perhaps execution of the ideas?

I absolutely adored this collection. Especially the kaftan shirts and extra long shirts makes for an interesting silhouette. It was one of my top picks from the Milan shows.

Channeling Dior Homme? I always liked their offering from the past seasons and this season just brought it up to another level. Most of the reviews did not like the voluminous coats but I found them dramatic and great and worked with the very clean, minimalistic feel that the collection possesed.

Fashion for little children learning the world of fashion.

As the new head Trussardi, why was this collection so much interesting than the other? Eventhough that I'm biased with my love of military inspired collections, I just thought that the pieces here were far more thought provoking than the costume-y feel that was this season's Trussardi.

Versace returned to their glory days of the 90's rich with luxe camouflage effects on the pieces that exuded flamboyance and richness that the house was(is) known for. Watching the show was like watching a gay pride parade on steroid with its leather looks and flamboyant pieces. I loved it and hated that I loved it at the same time.

The pop of yellow on every look made this collection interesting. Very rugged but soft at the same time.

The sophomore label with its new design head, Paul Surridge, debut collection for Z Zegna showed a different side of the label that was quite refreshing. Geared toward the younger fashionistos but still exuded great tailoring but with a touch of naiveté on the designs. There were a few of the pieces that I love.

That's it for Milan!!! Paris started yesterday, so off we go!

On another note, my Vivienne Westwood pants that I ordered have not arrived yet. I still have a week till the event but I'm getting antsy. I'm really hoping I get it on time with no more delays. Note to self: expedite the shipping. I received another update on the event and another warning about the strictly white attire. I guess there's no way to go around it. I have to wear white pants. Sigh, I will start to hunt ~~again~~ for white pants later.

Milan Men's Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2012-13 - Day 2

Welcome to the my Milan menswear round-up day 2. A lot of hits and misses for me and some just plain wrong but without further ado, here's day 2.

I liked metallic dusting on the jackets. Great layering pieces as expected from Bally.

I love the "color blocking" effect on the blazers it was classic with a touch of futuristic notes which I found very amusing because it did work for this collection. Overall, Bottega Veneta will always be one of my favorites season after season.

Oh, the minimalism that is Calvin Klein. Great safe pieces, but there were a few jackets that made me, "whow, that's cute." The tan leather with the shearling hoodie? Yeah that one. But there were some looks that I thought I've seen from previous collections such as Armani.

Flamboyant as the they come. Emporio Armani once again showed some Eastern influence for this current collection. The wide brim hats were back and some oversized beret-ish hats. The slouch boots again! Maybe I should start shopping for one now.

Check please! I mean checkered everywhere! Even on the linings of a cotton parka. The Argyle effect was fresh and since most of the pieces were interesting it came sartorial and very dapper.

Great dapper looks from Fendi. Luxe work wear to put lightly. Another grey coat with fur lining. I love the little pop of dark blue on rather dark pieces.

Interesting.

Missoni is one of those brands that will always be a hit or miss. ALWAYS. One most of the time the clothing eventhough they were polished and rich always remind me of hobo's (homeless folks). The color story probably. But I'm loving the collection. For my love of not-so puffy puffer jackets I'm in love with the Missoni puffer.

Thom Browne did it again. Great Avante Garde pieces for men. The formula 1-ish themed collection was a breath/whiff of fresh air. The jackets in yellow were just a great way of pop in color.

Prada or nada! Hands down the best show I've seen this season so far. The sinister militaristic nature of the collection was just oh-so-lovely! Not to mention, a few well-noted actors making a cameo. I wanted every piece and yes including the looks with the skirts!

I didn't really feel the boxy silhouettes of the pieces.

Another great collection from the house Ferragamo. Every tailored pieces looked very luxurious. The black leather jacket with the fur collar, love. The fanny pack? umm nahh. Nice but nahh.

After the disaster that was the Spring/Summer 2012 show, Trussardi showcased a literal 70's inspired collection. I didn't really like it. I don't think the pieces were inspired nor interesting. I feel really bad since the collections eventhough looked luxe was a bit costumey.

As we know Vivienne Westwood strives to educate on every show. This time no, it's not Titanic sinking but the melting polar caps. Great outerwear and individual pieces but as a collection, I was a little confused besides the frozen effect the collection seemed all over the place but I still love V.W.

Day2: Bally, Bottega Veneta, Calvin Klein, Emporio Armani, Ermanno Scervino, Fendi, Giuliano Fujiwara, Missoni, Moncler Gamme Bleu, Prada, Pringle of Scotland, Salvatore Ferragamo, Trussardi 1911 and Vivienne Westwood.

Milan Men's Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2012-13 - Day 1

What a weekend! The shows had been amazing! Eventhough I've been to New York for fashion week it does not compare to the European fashion shows. I love how rich everything looked and how European tend to become synonymous to fashion, ~~most of the time atleast~~. There are always exceptions, I've traveled and living in San Francisco, trust me, I know. Nevertheless, here's day one and the looks that stood out to me.

I'm loving the feel of the new collection, It seemed like Bailey went back to gray and to a more traditional-mod that the brand was well known for. The umbrellas with the shoulder strap, I'll have one please. The loose cowl neck sweaters were back and I'm loving and some Navajo (?) inspired prints as well.

Being well known with sharp tailoring, the collection was very masculine and luxe. Just a handsome collection. I love the side buttoned sweater paired with the scarf look.

Predominantly a dark collection with a slight pop of color here and there. What we came to expect from a Costume National collection, Edgy.

The first collection after the merge of the two labels. Eventhough the collection was cohesive I could tell that some looks belonged to D&G if it existed and the more intricate and luxe pieces belonged to its mature counterpart. I loved the feel of the collection, overall. Reminded me of The Boxer or a time when the Opera was considered the biggest event. The grand coats were simply beautiful.

The first of many 70's inspired collection. These were the stuff that my father used to wear, well from the pictures of his youth. It was a great collection.

An Indian inspired collection while Benjamin Dukhan performs live as the soundtrack. I'm in love with the spiked blazers! I want one. Great portfolios and printed shirts and blazers. As always the Frankie Morello show was an experience and not just a show. I love it.

The blue pill or the red pill? VERY Matrix looking collection. What happened to the colors? When I was watching the show I can not help but rechecking to see if I was watching the right show. The whole collection was blacked out in different textures so it was not boring.

The collection was still Rock and Roll but appeared more toned down. The first show I've noticed that features the slouch boots for Fall/Winter. Great knitwear and the blazer with the leather quarter arm sleeves were great.

A lot of great knits and bulky, colorful sweaters. Nothing that really stood out to me.

I must say I was a little underwhelmed with the collection.

Alright, those men were drowning on those bulky outerwear. I think saying bulky was an understatement. There were a few pieces that I wont mind owning though like the gold hooded sweatshirt.

One piece I absolutely adored the textured leather biker jacket. The collection was a good mix of leather and tailored pieces. Very celebrity friendly looks.

Eventhough the Valentino collection was shown last Monday, I had to put it on the first day. Great wool pieces and the neoprene jackets and man clutches were great.

Work at home days are like a double-edged sword. I like it since I don't have to drive to South San Francisco main office to work but at the same time I tend to procrastinate. Well I don't really find myself doing nothing more like doing EVERYTHING besides the task at hand. I cleaned my room, re-organize my closet, steam some of my shirts, re-organize my table, wash my sheets, polish my jewelry while my Mac goes on idle waiting for me to do work in the corner of my room. No Bueno but I make sure I do my job by the deadline. I guess I'm one of those people who truly shines under pressure. Yes, I'm patting my back right for a job well done.

Yes, today is the first day of Milan menswear fashion week! I can't wait! But in the meantime, here's an editorial with Micky Ayoub and Pablo Contreras for WAD magazine. I finally got around in returning some of the gifts I did not want and "back up" pieces for outfits from the holidays I never used and do not really care for to keep. My room is now clutter-free from left overs of the holidays, well ~~I still have to return a serving plate that I borrowed from my Mom but~~ I digress. Right now, Fashion Rio is in full swing and Milan menswear shows begin tomorrow and so the watching for trends. Oh, I love that part of my job. I can't wait to go to my very first trade show in New York next month!

How do I end the work week? How about another cover and editorial story of the seasoned Canadian model, Ryan Taylor. This time, Taylor is in the cover of Carbon Copy that is photographed by Diana King. Okay and here's the post that I predicted that will happen. Me wanting the raffia pom pom peak hat by Burberry Prorsum. From my last trip to New York Fashion Week, I saw a guy wearing the blue variant with a tan jacket walking/speed walking pass me. I was sold! At first, I was thinking when and where would I wear this and then I looked at my hat collection and half of my hats I've probably worn more than once. Clearly, I find a way to wear them to places and events. Essentially it is no different than most of my summer straw hats, I have a raffia hat and this one just happens to be shaped differently. The hat retails for $425.

As a blogger using the Google blogger, I think I'm pretty happy in how my page looks and how it is syndicated on Facebook eventhough that somebody on a recent fashion event told me that tumblr is the more "fashionable" blogging platform which I beg to differ. My photography skills are limited to my personal style, the limited street style and runway photos I take. So I felt like using tumblr is a waste. Last night, I had to block a certain individual on my Facebook wall because this individual has a very interesting picture blog using tumblr and the bad thing about tumblr on Facebook is that every picture on the blog is an individual entry on my wall so eventually I will have a flood of random images on my wall all from a single person. Not good especially if I wanted to see what my real friends are up to and not be bombarded with images that has no significant value to me. I know this kind of harsh but somebody needs to figure out a way that tumblr on Facebook is not so annoying.

It was such a beautiful day yesterday! I was wearing a puffer vest and polo shirt. It felt like it was spring time. I actually met a friend and enjoyed lunch on Maiden Lane's Mocca and ate outdoors. I don't know what was the allure of eating close to the financial district once in a while, I just like it. Probably because I don't work there. It would probably drive me nuts especially when everybody goes to lunch at the same time and every restaurant would be full and the pigeons aka flying rats bothering you, OMG! Nothing bothers me even more when people feed them and be that one weird person eating alone with all the birds were congregated. Okay, nothing wrong with eating alone but if you see a do-not-feed-the-birds sign it meant do not feed the damn birds because they get aggressive! *deep breaths*

I'm pretty sure everybody's seen those Stupid Sh*t *fill in a certain group of people in here* Say videos on youtube. They are hilarious! First, because they are so true and second, they are SOO true! I think some are more polished than others like the what girls, gays, and girls say to gay guys say videos. So, yesterday while doing a little research for another show I got invite to, one of the blogs I follow posted a Sh*t Fashionistas Say made by Style Casters. A little rough on the edges but the one that made me laugh out loud was the line,

"Yeah, I would love to see you, let's totally get together . . . but after fashion week, I know, I literally have no life till the end of fashion week."

I've said that before.

In today's editorial Chris Moore, who is one of the faces of the current campaign for Givenchy appears on the latest project by the ex-creative director of Trussardi 1911 and ex-Chief Editor of L'Officiel Hommes, Milan Vukmirovic. His latest project is a magazine called, Fashion For Men which is more of coffee table book since it will boast a whooping 500+ pages and be published bi-annually.

I don't think I'm the only one to say that the birds of paradise print would be the IT print for next season, considering the rottweiler print's success. Good job Tisci!

Special Runway Monday: The Best of Milan & Paris Spring/Summer 2012 Review

Welcome to a special Runway Monday review. Milan menswear fashion week will kick-off this Saturday and Paris comes after that. So what better way to get ~~even more~~ excited is to watch a highlights video of the previous Spring/Summer 2012 shows. Okay, Eventhough that I don't completely agree who FashionTV included with their their best of video, I do love some of the collections namely, Vivienne Westwood and Dior Homme ~~umm where's Prada?~~ Most of fashionistos and fashionistas all over the world knows that these two major circuits what dictates what will be hot next season. Almost all the giant fashion houses show during these two consecutive weeks and walked by the creme de la creme of male top models. THAT'S my goal for next fall to travel abroad for those shows.

Speaking of schedules, I finally booked my flight for New York Fashion Week! I'm going to miss the first half but will be there right on time for a few shows that I have been looking forward to see. I will be super busy till then though so I'm not really feeling the exhilaration of it all . . . YET! Then again it's just probably some Monday Blues. Le sigh.

Sweat, Blood and (Maybe) Tears Too - Ryan Taylor by Greg Swales

Working in the fashion industry is tough. It is not an easy profession by any means. People have claws ~~and designer handbags~~. Okay maybe I would think twice before I hit anybody with my Hermes Birkin bag but nonetheless, it is cut-throat, just ask any designer, no matter how established they are. So far my experience is nothing but tolerable, eventually I would have more control over the projects I receive till then, hard work and perseverance is my game.

This week and the next couple weeks, my days off will be utilized to plan my sister's baby shower for next month, I know I'm already behind schedule. So in short no days off for me!

Most of the time, I'm pretty good with following dress code. All thanks to being enrolled to a private Catholic school and wearing a uniform, from pre-school to high school. The thing with the fashion shows I've attended in the past, I always have control to what I wear. But for the upcoming Snow fashion event, an all white attire is called for. I refuse to wear white pants, I'm not a fan of them and as of today I'm still refusing to wear a pair. So I'm playing with other options of light grays. I know, I know that I'm over thinking my outfit but the pieces I'll be wearing will be part of my closet and not a one time outfit. If I want blogging pieces, then every look will be such a breeze.

Things That I Want: Backpack, backpack, Yehay!

You know what just dawned on me? The holidays are over! It went like a MUNI bus missing its stop. Zoom it was gone. So over the Holidays, I got to see my niece, which I rarely do for the fact that I live in San Francisco. She's four now and it just cracks me up on the things that she says. I remember when all she wanted to watch all day was Dora The Explorer, ALL DAY. And if you're familiar with the show, every episode she always sings that silly backpack song which is a form of torture in some places, I'm sure. If you don't know what I'm talking about, I included a video at the end of this post. Yes, you're welcome for solving all your problems today for you. Hashtag, First world problems.

Speaking of backpack, this is a backpack I wouldn't mind rocking. This is saying a lot since I've tried to avoid backpacks ever since my junior year in college. The LV backpack is part of the Louis Vuitton's spring/summer 2012 collection. I love that it is a touch safari and classic at the same time. I like the subtle monogram which I usually try to avoid but sort of works well with this backpack. A great combination of leather, canvas and nylon piece definitely. It is fashionable and luxe but very functional at the same time. Plainly, I just love it and Kim Jones as well.

Okay, fine it is a tad bit big but I do carry a lot of stuff with me, just like Dora, ~~sometimes she even carries a ladder with her, no kidding~~!

Alright, in the next couple of weeks the Menswear shows for Fall/Winter 2012 will kick off starting with Milan. Now that I'm working as a junior buyer, part of my job is not only to know up-coming designers but to do trend reports. Thanks to my blog and being into fashion, it is almost automatic. So, It comes easy. I can't wait when I become a principal buyer when I can travel at will to the international shows!

Splash of Color - Isaac Carew by Adrian Mesko

One of the biggest trend this season is color blocking. I know it's a little surprising that a number of fall/winter collections includes bright colors versus the more somber color palette that we are probably used to for the colder seasons. In general I tend to gravitate to more neutral to basic colors, like black, white and browns. So this is why I'm racking my brain on what to wear for the Snow fashion show happening this end of the month. It should be easy since it's an ALL WHITE attire (white pants?! GASP!). It is a themed event and therefore everybody wears outfits in a certain way. I have a few ideas, but I'm still in the process of compiling these ideas.

Speaking of a touch of color, this editorial that appears on the latest issue of GQ Japan shows men how to incorporate color to your looks. Fashion Editor Grant Pearce taps Issac Carew and photographer Adrian Mesko for some Color Play. Pearce styled Carew with pieces by Hermes, Bottega Veneta, Louis Vuitton and Burberry Prorsum to name a few. This is the real world application of color to a look. The looks have enough pop of color without looking like the Unicorn just puked on you.

Runway Monday: Clean-up On Aisle 10: Marlon Gobel Spring/Summer 2012 Review

Welcome to the first post of 2012! My New Year's Eve was good, although it could always be better, but if anybody was to blame it would be me. More time, more champagne, perhaps . . . ~~not to mention probably have my Canadien friend with me at stroke of midnight so we weren't counting down twice~~ *eastcoast and westcoast. Over the weekend, I went through my event calendar for the next couple months and I could not believe that it was already packed with events and trips. A great way to start the New Year.

As one of the shows that I was looking forward to from my trip to New York Fashion Week, Marlon Gobel didn't disappoint. The very vibrant supermarket themed collection looked so good I could and would sink my teeth on it. The printed produce shirts paired with tucked ties were great, what did you say? You were looking for a plum shirt? Marlon has it . . . in HD print! I absolutely love the Asparagus dress shirt! Another upcoming trend next season is mesh, Marlon Gobel's were fresh and colorful styled with bowties? Yes, please. The suits, were sharp and in some great and vibrant colorful hues. Another part of the show that I love, were the shoes! Okay, you should know by now how I love my shoes. The looks were paired with Walk Over derby shoes with pastel soles. The grey/yellow variant? Sold, to moi! The collection touched every gamut of menswear from swimwear to formalwear. Only one thing that I hope that Marlon would venture into ~~maybe~~ was man bags. Marlon Gobel's spring/summer 2012 collection was delicious and a pleasure to watch.

And as I'm planning my Snow fashion show/event outfit happening at end of the month. Who knew that planning an all white outfit can be so challenging. One piece I've been considering was the, as Marlon Gobel named it, Optical Refraction Vinyl Lens Jacket paired with a white shirt and a white bowtie. (hint hint nudge nudge)

What Are You Doing New Year's Eve?: The Last Post of 2011

It's New Year's Eve! Like most individuals, the last couple of days had been days to reflect on the things that happened this year. It is a lot easier now with Facebook's Timeline (Yes, I'm half-kidding). Every great times with friends, meeting new ones, losing some, EVERYTHING with an easy scroll down to stroll down memory lane. Overall, A crazy, Ah-mazing year!

I decided Thursday night that I'm not going to New York city to meet the person I'm sorta-kind-of seeing, since I promised my parents to attend their New Year's Day luncheon this time around. Jet setting from NYC and be proper in front of family the next day? I don't think so. I have to say it's been a while since I spent New Year's with my family and not the person I'm seeing. Good thing: I don't have to get my tuxedo dry cleaned the last minute, Bad thing: I don't have somebody to kiss at midnight! And of course, I mean somebody I would rather kiss and not some random person. The woe of "seeing" somebody and there is almost 3,000 miles between you both. I know crazy. Psh! I need a drink, already.

All kidding aside, be safe, have fun tonight, drink a lot of champagne (or sparkling wine depending how classy are the hosts to your parties) and be grateful for every moment, life is too short for regrets!

Not For Us - River Viiperi for Versace for H&M Cruise Collection

Once again, the US fashionistos and fashionistas are being dissed for the second pre-spring collection of the Versace for H&M Cruise collection. Sad. Eventhough that it looks a little tamer than the wild prints and studded looks of the first collection, I like it. It still have the Greek theme but now with the Santorini, Greece twist that I absolutely adore! Clean and neat. River Viiperi reprises his role as the face of the Versace for H&M collection. The collection will be available online on January 19 to those countries where an H&M online store is available. The most important fine print, NOT IN AMERICA. Boo!

Today is my last day at work for the year 2011. Kinda surreal. The year went by so fast. On another note, I'm very thankful for all the great things that happened that made the year a great year, really.

Things That I Want: Mission: Impossible - Arthur Sales & Mario Loncarski by Alfredo Albanesi

I am still under the weather, but I chose to go with a friend to see Mission: Impossible last night. It was the right decision. I had always been a fan of the Mission: Impossible franchise and this one was not a let down at all. I also love that it ended in San Francisco! I was supposed to see this move Monday night with the bestie and some friends but I was delirious with fever. I'm glad I saw it, and if you haven't seen it, you should take the time to see it! it was very much entertaining . . . or was it good because my friend insisted of mixing our Coke zero with some left over rum from Christmas. I'm not gonna spoil the movie for my fashionistos and fashionistas who haven't got the chance to see it, but go see it! So, I'm posting this event as the last "Things I Want" of the year.

In a similar titled editorial that was featured on Geil magazine, Arthur Sales and Mario Loncarski took on a mission that is quite impossible. The shoot was styled and shot by the amazing Alfredo Albanesi with pieces by Rick Owens, Romain Kremer for Mykita (I must say I'm loving R.K.'s colab pieces), and Ann Demeulmeester. Hmm the whole, neoprene/wool movement is really taking off. Who knew.

Everyday Life - Janos Molnar, Lennart Richter & Sean Fox by Brent Chua

Since I started work already, I sort of miss the days when I would go home to the 'rents house during the holidays and stay there and catch up with people I haven't seen in a year. Well, back then it was torture to be away from my friends but now, with Christmas came and went. I miss waking up in the morning with home cooked meal ready for me. Le sigh. Family can't live with them can't live without them.

Janos Molnar, Lennart Richter and Sean Fox served as the subjects for these great photo series by New York based photographer Brent Chua. Styled with pieces by Bang Pineda, Roberto Cavalli, Philip Lim 3.1 and Mack Sam for the Fashionisto magazine. These were three out of the many works that Brent Chua did for the Fashionisto magazine for the last couple of months, such a great eye.

Last night, since I was feeling a little bit under the weather, I decided to cancel all my evening plans and stay in. I had to keep priority meaning to be healthy for New Years Eve. Eventhough I have yet to make plans. Either to stay in the west coast or jet set to New York to see a friend. Decisions, decisions. In my boredom, I actually tagged every possible picture I can tag on Facebook so it will show up on my timeline's map. It was surreal, it brought back great memories. Now, I'm tempted to upload EVERY picture I have so I can tag 'em. Or ask an assistant to do it for me.

I had a great Christmas weekend with non-stop eating and great fun with friends. Hopefully, everybody had a great time with their celebrations. Now to hustle at the gym so I can look great welcoming 2012!

Well, It's here! Merry Christmas to one and all! The last two days had been a mad dash to buy gifts and getting last minute errands done and finishing friday night with hanging with my friends for a pre-holiday night out. I spent Christmas Eve with the family and coming back to the city later tonight for my friend's Christmas soiree. Hope my fashionistos and fashionistas got what they wanted today wether you've been naughty or nice. But if you ask me, All I want for Christmas is **You** (And you know who you are).

Sometimes people frustrates me. Maybe they're not performing at my level or I expect too much from people. I don't really know which is which yet but I'm not going to think about the shortcomings of the people around me today. It is two days before Christmas! I refuse to be in a knot or a rut when others especially "upgrades" do show interest. Nothing a little communication will fix, really and that means for the good or the bad. No matter how important somebody thinks they are in my life, I, me, moi will always comes first. ALWAYS.

Most people read up their current events in the morning over coffee. I don't have the time for a nice sit down breakfast in the morning. So, I usually do it on my lunch break. News over some sushi? why not. So, yesterday, I stumbled upon the Kardashian's Christmas card for this season (Yes, celeb scoop IS current events). I must say, eventhough, I haven't seen an episode of the their reality show as of late, I love how they all look in the picture, definitely high fashion (check out the Loubis galore!!!).

And on my recent visit home, my Mom had brought up the fact that when my sister gives birth to her daughter next year, A family portrait will be scheduled. If I get control of that shoot, my family portrait will be less preppy and more high fashion for a change.

For today's Things That I Want post, if you've been reading my last couple of posts from this week, you already know what I want! Those Romain Kremer for Camper red heeled oxfords. The colab shoes with Camper were featured at the french designer's fall/winter 2010-11 collection. The one half of duo designer for Buckler is known for his futuristic and avante garde looks and I absolutely love his take on the classic oxfords. The shoes retail for $205 but are currently on sale for $175. I'm picking them up tomorrow.

It is my last work day for the week before my Christmas break.

Child's Play - Francis Piennar by Mckenzie James

During a conversation with a friend last night, the whole me planning my outfit for my friend's Christmas Dinner came up. ~~Well the fact that I wouldn't shut up about the Kremer for Camper shoe that I've been hunting was probably the cause, whoopsie!~~ He asked me why bother to dress up if it was just among friends and by the way this was coming from a model with New York and International work experience, mind you. My answer? I don't really know I told him that I feel like everyday I wake up was always a chance to dress up and honestly, I was not really getting worked up about what I would wear but more on the fact that I have to always get what I want, when I want. The latter idea he understood, perfectly.

Photographer Mckenzie James lensed this editorial for the fourth issue of Pulp magazine. With a little help from Jessica Gordon's playful props, Francis Piennar showed a sense of naiveté for this shoot. Stylist, Elaine Jyll Regio had put together a good number of pieces from Givenchy, Buckler, Hugo Boss and Marc by Marc Jacobs.

Tweed Me Right - Aiden Andrews & Charlie France by Alexander Wagner

Last night, I went to eat dinner at the world famous Cliff House's Sutro's restaurant. My new friend insisted we go even with my you-won't-see-anything fog warning. The food, as always, was great but that restaurant would have been better during a clear night or probably for brunch . . . no fog. It was a pleasant dinner of great conversations more than most, really. But the absolute best thing about last night? Everybody was in such a good mood! Happy Holidays, indeed!

Tweed is one of those classic pieces when done wrong, you would look like you just stepped out of the Oliver chorus line. For this editorial that appeared on the November/December issue of Sportswear International entitled Tweed Run, Alexander Wagner photographed top models Aiden Andrews and Charlie France as to what they call fashion cycle. John Tan showed their readers how to "tweed it up" in a modern way with pieces by Ben Sherman, Frankie Morello, Shipley & Halmos and Thom Browne. I absolutely love that ultra modern red rubber backed oxford/derby shoes by Romain Kremer for Camper.

Runway Monday: Safari - Louis Vuitton Spring/Summer 2012 Review

Traveling in style is the focal point of an LV man collection and with a new head designer, Kim Jones; he successfully gave the brand a slight tweaking (The new LV logo? LoVe!) without losing the essence of what makes Vuitton, well, Vuitton collection. Imagine the signature damier print but re-invented in that bright red and electric blue combination, stunning! It also gave the brand a more edgy and younger feel to it without losing its luxe appeal. I think to say that the bags are beautiful is an understatement. That alligator skin, varsity jacket? I absolutely adore. The massive scarfs paired with the khakis gave the looks a great pop of color and are probably the looks that I adore most. How about those slippers/sandals "things," Interesting look. Eventhough most of the looks are reminiscent of safari, the collection featured a well balanced pieces of beautiful tailoring and great sportswear. Overall, I think with the careful guidance of Marc Jacobs, Kim Jones' first collection for Louis Vuitton is quite a success. Bravo!

Eventhough today is Monday, I will have exactly four-day-work-week before my Christmas break starts. Although it is a short work week, it will be a busy one. Oh deadlines, how I love to hate you. I also have yet to wrap most of the gifts I bought so far and the rest tied with a bow.

It'll be exactly a week from today that the eating the whole day notion is not too foreign. I think that is the second reason why people wear layers during the holidays. One, to keep warm and two, to hide an expanding waistline. I still have a few people to shop for the holidays. Man oh man, every year I always tell myself to start early but nope so typical I never listen to my instincts. I have a few parties to attend to today but I'm not sure if I have time to attend all of them. Le sigh.

Remember a few years ago when Chad White is everywhere? Runway, Editorial, Campaigns I MEAN everywhere! Even though that things chaged, It is nice to see the young boy then and how he looks right now all grown up. This time in the new issue of the Australian magazine, Kurv.Giovanni Squatriti shoots White with Fabio Mancini, J.C. and Kaylan in pieces by D&G, Dsquared2, and Prada as styled by Duffy Bergman. Well Chad is all grown up now as this provocatively sexy editorial would attest.
